I am interested to see more of unnamed redhead, however. Sometimes I wish there were a few more people in this comic...
Remember Steve? How did Marten end up being the only guy in the comic?
What happened to Marten's band? Did it fall apart when the couple broke up?

Ya know, maybe for Marten it's just a sleepless night after an emotional day -- no big significance, just processing, or even just a little acid indigestion due to an uncomfortable surprise at dinner.
For Faye? Faye probably has a lot of sleepless nights. She pushes away any attempt anyone makes to get close to her, jumps all over Sven no matter what he does (if he tries to change his ways, she disses him, if he tries to straighten up she accuses him, she won't admit a chance of a relationship between them yet completely loses her shit at even the hint that he might look at someone else.) She could very well be thinking about all the mixed messages she sending and her own admitted bitchy behavior.
Penny is just sweet. Hanners is going to be up all night disinfecting her bed.
And what if Jeph had reversed it all? What if it had been Dora, Sven, Will and Hanners who made those significant sighs in the night?

From what if summed up about Marten's life:
From the strip where he says "Is this all there is?" I took that to mean that by this time in his life, he expected himself to be banging groupies left and right, not stuck working in a library, and being in a band that never plays gigs.
Its the same with me, though not the banging groupies part. I thought that by this stage of my life, I would be designing things as a mechanical engineer for various defense contractors. But no, I'm still stuck in school wondering what the hell to do. So I identify with him. I daresay it happens to a bunch of people.
