I am very glad that the Steelers won, the 100 yard TD was well worth my getting to the local Super Bowl party.

I do feel bad for the Cardinals though, they hadn't been to a Super Bowl since 1948.

As for the superbowl commercials, both Doritos commericials and the Star Trek trailer were great IMO.

Your thoughts on the game? who did you want to win, and what was you most memorable moment/commerical?

The Hulu and Careerbuilder commercials were good. The game in general was fairly dull except for the final play of the first half, and the last 10 minutes.

Also, Cardinals O-line/Kurt Warner, how do you give up a fumble, on the final drive of the Super Bowl, to a 3 man rush. HOW.

Oh yeah and man, Springsteen has got nooooooo air. Dude was gasping constantly, couldn't hold his notes, wasn't projecting at all. I don't like him to begin with, so I don't care, but I imagine if I were a fan that show would've been horribly depressing.

Also, I loved seeing him play his Telecaster. On the front, it looked like a brand new guitar. On the back, that thing was rubbed raw down to the wood from where he had swung it around 50 billion times before in years past.

(I was kindof waiting for him to accidentally hit the headstock on the stage because man that would've been funny to watch)

Pretty good game. Maybe if the Cardinals had been consistently just good throughout the game instead of oscillating between amazing and appalling they would have won it. The 100-yard intercept touch-down was pretty damned spectacular - BUT, and admitting I'm not very familiar with the rules of American Football, isn't it illegal to grab a guy who doesn't have the ball? Like, don't guys get penalised for that all the time? 'Cause it looked to me like the guy who took Warner out on that intercept play grabbed him by the jersey and hauled him out of the way. But maybe I'm mistaken.

I basically wanted to punch John Madden though. He was an amazing coach and led my team to many victories, and he even owns some property in my hometown, so I can't hate the guy. But man, he should never serve as a sports commentator ever. I seriously think he just puts stupid lines into a machine, and then he pulls a lever and it spits one of them out. What a game!

Sympathetic towards the Cards, as they did excellently to get back into it. Dockett and Rodgers-Cromartie (the rookie cornerback) were superb in defense. Fitzgerald and James were immense on offense, and LF's second touchdown was brilliantly executed to take advantage of Pittsburgh playing their safeties deep.

But the Steelers were just too good. On offense Big Ben was great in the first half - especially that crazy scramble dodging most of the Arizona D-line before offloading it to Holmes. Holmes himself was vital on that final drive. The defense was solid as always, particularly in the way that James Harrison took advantage of the flag-happy officials with his bull-rush tactics that drew Gandy into so many holding penalties.

The two highlights that swung me towards the Steelers were Harrison's pick and TD (needs no explanation) as well as LF's first TD. The reason for the second is that it was so comparable to Tyree's lucky reception last year and I'd hate to see any team - outwith the Patriots - win a game on something so jammy as that.

Arizona played well - no doubt about it - but the Steelers deserved their victory.

But if there was a flag for what I was thinking of, it would have been against the team with the ball, and it would have been for interfering with a guy trying to make a tackle, so surely they wouldn't have let the touchdown stand?

Yeah, there probably should have been holding called on that return, but there really should be holding called on at least 2 people every play. It wasn't particularly egregious in that case.

Dockett was solid, Rodgers-Cromartie got torched by Santonio Holmes all night. I don't think you can really say a guy was superb when the receiver he was primarily covering gets 9 catches for 131 yards, a TD, and the Super Bowl MVP.

And good god, AZ defense, the penalties. What the christ.

Ah, okay. The Superbowl is the only game of American Football I ever watch (apart from anything else, it's the only game that's on free-to-air here) so I don't know the game well enough to know what the "turn-a-blind-eye" infringements are.

It can be pretty mystifying for long time fans as well, really. About the only area they're truly consistent is personal fouls/unnecessary roughness. Getting away with a bit of holding is pretty easy, particularly if it the guy you're trying to stop has a bad angle on the ballcarrier anyway; the zebras don't want to slow the game down over a non-issue. On the other hand, if you cut block (aka, dive at the guys knees) the guy from behind rather than hold him, you'll get called every time even if it happened away from the ball. Hell, especially if it happened away from the ball; the NFL doesn't even like to hear players joke about punishing/headhunting other players, so you're pretty much guaranteed to be fined as well in that case.

Arizona hardly fucked it all up late. Maybe the Warner fumble with seconds left (which I thought should have been an incompletion), but it was more the Steelers who fucked up in letting the Cards back into it in the first place.

And they were bloody awful in the first and third quarters.

Those were my favorite parts as well. I really wanted the Cardinals to win, because I hate Ben Turdlisburger, but both teams played their hearts out so I guess I can't really complain about the Steelers winning.

Glad to hear alot of you had memoriable moments from the game.

Admittadly, I missed the mid-game show because I was txting people during it and socializing with others. I guess after a superbowl with the rolling stones and (whoever was in the other one). I lost interest in the mid-game show.

I had to leave the party I was at during the start of the 4th quarter, when I left the Cardnials were 7-17 behind the steelers, when I arrived home two minutes before the end of the 4th quarter, the Cardnals were ahead of the steelers. Suffice to say, i didn't move until the game was over. Did Arazona make 2 touchdowns or what happened during the 4th quarter before the 1:40 second mark, anyone remember?

Pittsburgh hit a FG to make it 20-7. Fitzgerald scored a TD, before Arizona forced a Pittsburgh safety. Then with about 2 mins remaining, Fitzgerald caught and ran 40 yards for the go-ahead TD.
