Favourite Music Formate
eddie:
So which is your preffered method?
Thrillho:
CD, honestly. I know vinyl has a warmer sound, but it deteriorates so easily the more you play it. CD has a high enough quality - despite some sharpness and clipping, but you just have to find the right CDs, really - and reliability. MP3s have too short a bit rate.
look out! Ninjas!:
mp3, then CD's
I wasn't around for vinyl, not even a little. And so none of that nostalgia is there when I hear a warped, crackly vinyl slowly succumb to old age. CD's sound just as good with the added bonus of not dying if you take reasonable care of them.
mp3's though are a clear favourite. The ease of walking out of the house with 12,000+ songs at my disposal, the way I can download a CD before I buy it to check if it's good or not, the mediafire thread. All of these are reasons why mp3's are the best, even though they don't sound as good. My ears are fucked anyway so I can't tell.

I've become all about vinyl in the past year, and I think it has something to do with the optical drive on my MacBook not working anymore.
michaelicious:
I prefer vinyl, but not because I'm some purist who thinks it sounds better. I don't really give a shit about that. I just think it is the most conducive format to make me pay attention to the music. The ritual of taking it out of the sleeve and putting it on the turntable always puts me in the mood for dropping everything and just appreciating some music.
I can't even tell you how many hours my best friend and I spent as teenagers sitting on my bedroom floor listening to records. If we weren't listening to them we were trying to scrape together the money to buy them from flea markets and stuff.
