You shouldn't be guilty about any of those bands (except maybe Brokeback Mountain). Machinehead are one of the most solid live bands I've ever seen - metal or othergenrewise, and minus the Burning Red/Supercharger era of subpar music, all of their other albums are excellent. Lots of people I've known who like them also believe their two most recent are their best. The Black Dahlia Murder are also not a guilt-inducing band. Their vocalist is an amazing lyricist (see: Unhallowed), their guitars are fast, melodic, and catchy (though a tad repetitive), and the drummers they've had on their albums all sounded like they had 8 arms and legs. And Pig Destroyer? Are you kidding me? Scott Hull pretty much single-handedly pioneered the grindcore genre with his 7 string barage of downtuned riffs. Be proud. Blast it Loud. (wow i just made that up) :-D
As for me, I have a tendency to listen to 80's rock/metal. Accept, Skid Row, Def Leopard, Whitesnake, Van Halen...

I really love Nickelback, even if I shouldn't, but I can't stand their new album. It's a whole new pinnacle of selling out for them.
I also listen to way too much Marilyn Manson. I don't know what anyone's opinion of him/them is here, but I'm slightly obsessed. :|
