Guilty Pleasures
Bayley:
single ladies runs through my head often, though i do not own and have not downloaded it, so i guess there's no guilt involved, as no particular actions have been taken towards listening to it; it's just catchy as fuck.
two of my biggest pleasures, which i almost universally hide from people unless it becomes clear that they are kindred souls are
A) the sound of music
B) disney songs
now disney songs i love because of childhood, immaculate popsongcraft, and a few i genuinely just like (not in nottingham, bare necessities, etc)
but the sound of music i fucking love. with pretty much every fiber of my soul. and i have absolutely no shame or guilt about this whatsoever, though i have realized over the years that it really doesn't gain the respect of many peers.
but fuck them, man. rodgers and hammerstein are amazing; i don't care how out of fashion un-ironic musicals are, christopher plummer singing edelweiss is devastating.
outside of that:

I really love Nickelback, even if I shouldn't, but I can't stand their new album. It's a whole new pinnacle of selling out for them.
I also listen to way too much Marilyn Manson. I don't know what anyone's opinion of him/them is here, but I'm slightly obsessed. :|

I never understood the "Sell-Out" arguement when it came to Nickelback. Granted most of the stuff we hear from the radio from them is Rock watered down to be Pop-ish Mainstream. That being said, anytime ive had a chance to listen to one of their albums the best songs are the ones that will never be released as a single. Side of a Bullet stands out in that category. I'm also not ashamed to say their songs "Never Again" and "Animals" are on my playlists.
When it comes to Manson, he's almost his own genre now to me. His musical styles have changed drastically over the years, but hes still undeniably MANSON. I'm glad to admit that if there is a Manson Genre, I'm a fan.

I thought you were going for the Kelly Clarkson "Never Again". Which, I admit, is on my iPod. But why not? It's kinda catchy and she's hot ;-). Besides I have too many guilty pleasures haha.

I'm not really religious at all, but I agree that this is a pretty good soundtrack. But it makes sense, all the instruments and main singing parts were played by pretty big 1970's musicians.

I don't really feel too guilty about anything I like. I get some raised eyebrows when people see Jacko on my iPod, though, and liking My Chemical Romance got me a little ridicule. Back in 8th grade I'd hide my Jewel and Avril CDs so nobody would see them. And I sometimes listen to Linkin Park. The only song I don't play in my car unless I'm alone is Maneater. I LOVE THAT SONG.
