Fox is made of poo.  Everything about it is poo.

Guy's got scruples.

TheFuriousWombat:
I thought his exit speech, of sorts, was really terrific and heartfelt. Thanking NBC for the 20 years he had worked there seemed really big of him and he seemed to choke up a bit when he thanked everyone for all the support - letters and internet tirades and even rallies. Ending on that note about cynicism, how it was his least favorite quality and how he implored people not to be cynical about the whole fiasco and said just be a good person and such could have been overly sentimental or cliche but the way he said it made it feel incredibly genuine and from the heart. What a cool guy! So sad to see him go, I grew up watching him afterall. Truly the end of an era. I doff my cap and all that.

Disagree. Not that I'm a huge Fox fan or anything, but it is pretty much the best choice for Conan.

Someone mentioned earlier a quasi-Larry Sanders show would be optimum but I couldn't disagree harder. Conan wants to stay on Network TV and a show like that would NEVER survive on one of the major networks.

Going to Fox, on the other hand, he goes to a staff that has an excellent time slot for a late-night host, wants the demo that Conan pulls in, and would have the money to allow Conan to struggle in the ratings for a few years until his show gets its voice against Leno and Letterman. And I think they WANT a potential late night competitor too bad to interfere too much with Conan's vision.

Or maybe they'll treat him like they've treated every Joss Whedon show post-Buffy.

Heliphyneau:
I'd almost rather Conan take his show to cable than go to Fox.  If he did a late night show on Fox at 11:30pm to compete with Jay, he'd be following the Wanda Sykes Show (nothing against her, I think she's funny, but I don't know if he'd want to follow a half hour talk show), which follows Fox News.  AND going network means being subject to the same outdated Neilson Ratings System.  In its inception, Fox used to take some chances with programming, but these days they're as trigger-happy with cancellations as NBC is.  Conan's a smart guy.  I hope he figures out a way to be competitive without significantly compromising his show or his ideals.

And I agree about his farewell speech -- he kept it classy, but better than that, he was genuine.  How fucking rare is THAT on TV.

In the meantime, I would like Conan to appear in a sequel to Dr. Horrible.   :-D  Let's make that happen.
