TheFuriousWombat:
I'm pretty sure the way their shows work on this tour is they play the new album all the way through, leave for a bit, and then come back and do a big set of other, older songs. So...more like a 45 minute part 2 than a 45 minute encore?

RallyMonkey:
This was the Crane Wife Tour, so they didn't play all the way through. But, the thing is, they were planning on playing the Tain, so they only needed to decide to play two songs to make it forty five minutes. A Thursday night disco cover band made me miss a live performance of The Tain.

The Joker:
A buddy of mine went to some punk show (which in my opinion qualifies on its own for this thread) but he was in the middle of the mass of jumping crazy people and he got a faceful of beer.  He describes it as seeing it in slow motion, a plastic cup full of beer flying toward him and only having time to think "aahhh shit this is gonna be gross" and then getting it in the face.  Lame.

45 minute part 2 makes more sense than a 45 minute encore, which is ridiculous.  The only performer that can pull of an encore (IMO) like that is Bruce Springsteen, and even then it's spread over two or three or four encores.

RallyMonkey:
Well, the Mariner's Revenge Song is about 10 minutes long, The Tain is about 20 minutes long. They never said "We had a 45 minute encore planned" but they said they were going to play some other songs, including The Tain, so it would be 30 minutes plus "some other songs".
