I loved tonight's game. Not only do the Sox win, but I get 12 strikeouts and a serviceable ERA/WHIP (Serviceable when you factor in the phenomenal innings I got from Bedard, Garza and Saito today) AFTER Joba essentially gave the game away.

Actually it was not steroids. They have not said what it was yet, but they did rule that out. I am really kind of curious, because with Manny, things are always entertaining and not what you expect.

Not what I heard.l The front page of MLB.com clearly states "PED's."

It may not be anabolic steroids, but it's allegedly definitely an enhancer and not just a recreational drug.

And more efficient. I'm imaging you somehow ending up replacing Brandon Webb with Curt Schilling and winding up with Barry Bonds as a utility guy.

At least Rodriguez has already accounted for 4 saves this week. Not that it really matters.

You know, I have some relatively competitive stats for a guy who is being completely and utterly dismantled. Well, aside from steals and homers. Those totals are pathetic. Seriously, screw you Manny and Jimmy.

jesus christ, my batting exploded this week.  I'm pretty sure I doubled Bryan's numbers in at least half of the batting categories.

Speaking of, I miss your Weekly Wrap-Ups, Bryan.  I can never decide who my own MVP would be, I am horribly indecisive.

My MVP would be Santana, because he's the only player on my roster who didn't monumentally let me down at multiple points this week. It's not even that Rachel even did all that well this week (Shit, she had her best pitcher on the DL), it's that my team just played like absolute shit. It didn't help that Youkilis and Ellsbury missed half the week, which killed my OBP and stolen bases, but that doesn't make my pitching past Santana and Nathan NOT suck.

My hopes for this week are not high, as I'm still unsure whether I should start Youkilis or not, since he COULD be missing half the week again.

I'm basically convinced that being matched up against Rachel is a bad omen. A fair number of her matchups have resulted in a down week for her opponent, and in my case and your case, we're talking about some seriously epic stinkers. It's like watching one of those scrappy hockey teams that just drags their opponent down to their level every game, except in this case it makes absolutely no sense because this is fantasy sports.

It wasn't supposed to be. Both my brother and I had been searching for him on the FA list and NEVER found him. I was trying to snag him for a month.

I'll consider Daniel Bard a good consolation, though.

The good thing is I'm pretty set in terms of relievers anyway. As exciting as Bard looks, he doesn't really fit into my current "Just grab two scrub starters with good matchups" gameplan anyway. Ubaldo Jimenez has sucked something awful this year, but I'll pull just about anyone off the scrap heap if they happen to be starting twice against the Pirates and Astros.

Kudos to Ryan Howard who, by putting up 11 (yes, 11) Ks on his own this week, has kept me in with a chance.

Also, to Octavio Dotel for his 2 SVHD and Brandon Phillips for batting 3-1-8 with a .412 average so far.

Though to be fair, I am also lucky Gavin Floyd and Jamie Moyer both have ERA in the low double digits on the week.  And that George Sherrill decided to get off his ass and start recording a fucking save.

The Twins are absolutely fucking me over. Nathan only has six saves right now because his team never gets him into a save situation.

I'm also getting fucked on this week. I'd probably have a win if Bedard wasn't scratched yesterday, but I can only tie at best.

Yeah, I've basically become known as the the baseball fan equivalent of Debbie Downer amongst my family here in Minny due to my attitudes about the Twins. Morneau is really about the only Twin I genuinely "trusted" going into this from a fantasy perspective, since he's a generally healthy slugger who should be in rounding into his peak year. Mauer's playing well, but he's as likely to get injured again as he is to continue this recent rash of home run hitting.

Yep. I was actually discussing that with Rachel today. I was checking my stats and bitching about Bedard and she asked me to check hers for her. I told her she won, but she was bullshit fucking lucky to have done it, as another two outs and it would've gone the other way. Welcome to the Curse of Playing Rachel. When I played her last week, she cursed me so hard, half my fucking team spent most of the week day to day and I lost my best fucking hitter.

If Armando Gallaraga had just gotten past the fucking first inning I would've won today.

I know the feeling, as mentioned briefly, the Bedard thing did end up fucking me. I had ERA, IP and WHIP all wrapped up, so even if Bedard came in and gave up five runs in the first before being pulled, as long as he got ONE strikeout, I would've won the week.

Well played, sir.

EDIT: ...shit.  Of course I had to ride the afterglow of that close victory all the way to the scoreboard page, where I'm told that I play Rachel this week.  Damn it.

So I tied Matt last week. All I needed was one god damn run, and my highest run scorer had this happen to him last night:

Quote
Because of a mix-up on the lineup card, pitcher Andy Sonnanstine was forced to replace Longoria as the No. 3 hitter and bat for himself Sunday, the Bradenton Herald reports.
Spin: The lineup card originally listed both Ben Zobrist and Longoria as the Rays' third baseman, when in fact Longoria was supposed to be the DH. As a result of that error, the team was forced to go without a DH, sending Longoria to the bench.
