I Like Hardcore Music. Do You Like Hardcore Music? - SAM, YOU MUST POST!

in the few punk scenes i've encountered (i'd hesitate to say "been part of" since i tended to avoid the name-dropping and one-upping and just went to see live music), i've generally found the patch-wearing, vegan-as-fuck, punker/crustier-than-thou types to be just as annoying, cliquey, image-obsessed, and elitist as the asymmetrical fringe brigade, only more violently so. i say generally, as there have always been a few saving graces in the form of people who wear the associated clothes but aren't actually arseholes.
still, this doesn't have any bearing on whether or not the music itself is good, and i'd frankly love to hear me some discharge, as i've not heard much so far, so if anyone wants to throw some up here, that'd be awesome.
Sythe:
Would Winds of Plague be considered hardcore? I see more hardcore/wiggercore fans turn out to see them than metalheads.
a pack of wolves:
No, they play that really watered down kind of death metal. Would they be slam? Slam confuses me, I just know it involves Waking The Cadaver and various other bits of death metal I want no part of.

Oh yeah, crust punk is massively about image. I tend to find it's the younger ones that tend to be more elitist, the ones in their late 20s-early 40s are usually pretty decent sorts (even if I sometimes do get an urge to hose them down). Quite a few nice younger ones as well though, often seems arbitrary what scene attracts the tits in any given town. Mind you I probably would say that since I'm not averse to the odd patch and being a wee bit vegan as fuck myself.
I could do with more Discharge myself, I lost most of it when my old computer died and unfortunately I can't rip from vinyl to put what I have left up.

Canvas - Lost In Rock
(Household Name, 2000)

this arrived in the post t'other day, and it's pretty awesome. total headfuck, but intriguing nonetheless! the vocals are sometimes a bit nails-meet-blackboard, but otherwise it's pretty insane, definitely gonna get a few more spins from me very soon!

I'm kind of relieved you bought something after my gushing and didn't hate it. When I'm back at my computer I'll throw up Humanfly's fist album, it's the vocalist and one of the guitarists from Canvas (and early Beecher) doing some kind of JR Ewing screamo, but pretty much better than JR Ewing. It contains the line "here, have a riff grenade". I can imagine a few guys around these parts liking it. I know what you mean about John's vocals, he does get pretty wailing. Personally I rather like that completely off-key business, but... yeah.
On a related note, does anyone know of any really new hardcore bands that are totally fucking with the template and making you wonder if this is even hardcore? Because I could use more of that, the more political the better.
