Do you know someone who "likes something ironically"?
fish across face:
Hey, sorry if this is particularly dumb, but the phrase came up in the Terrible Covers Thread, and I read it enough online, but I was just wondering... well, what I just wrote in the topic, I guess.
Mainly I just don't get what the phrase means, but having been an English teacher I tend to think examples are clearer than definitions. Please tell me about someone you know who does this mysterious thing. What is it they do? Do they praise stuff with one group of people, then admit later they don't really like it? Do they say they listen to some artist because they're so bad it's funny? What?
MadassAlex:
Liking something ironically is essentially hipsterfag for "I could never admit to liking this even though I do". It's essentially for when Patrick wants to listen to Manowar.
oh snap
Zingoleb:
I like myself ironically.

Pretty much this. The faux-ironic "love" of shitty things is one of the great cultural diseases of early 21st-century Western society.
