Paul Oakenfold's Slacker Mix of Ascension "Someone"

mm I was not too serious, although stupid rap over zelda fairy fountain music makes happy,
I wish that was what I heard instead when I was playing zelda for snes.

On a more serious note I suppose I would say

Psapp - About Fun Remix (Isan's Pet Visor Remix)

Xiu Xiu - Bishop CA (Kid 606)

The Knife- Marble House (davidandrewsitek's KNIFEHORSE remix) Actually the entire marble house remix album is good.

There's something hilarious about seeing the words "Slim Thug ft. Iron & Wine" together (T.I. ft. Sigur Rós is a close second)

On that note, I'll mention Alive 2007, given that it hasn't come up yet.

The Beatles vs. Shaggy works surprisingly well too.

Pretty much most of the "Love" album (George/Geoff Martin re-mixing the Beatles)

I really think this album was done in a terrible, disgusting manner, and people only think it works because of the quality of the original songs.  Beyond the novelty value, I can't think of a single reason to listen to this instead of the original albums.

I'm not too crazy about mashups, but I really enjoy the Radiohead / Dave Brubeck - 15 Step one. One that I really hate is Lil Wayne / Grizzly Bear. Ugh, why??!?!?!?

To each their own. Some I really prefer the originals (Because comes to mind), but some I really prefer the re-mix on (Lady Madonna).

It's only a new spin on old music.

There's a really good mashup http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlsMfjsJYFQ that surprised me. Don't really know who did the actual mashing up, but I was surprised it went so well together.

I will upload "Fight For Your Right To Party Hard" later when I get home from work but do not let that stop you from hunting down the finest mash up of all time on your own (Andrew WK vs Beastie Boys)

in terms of remixes I could go on for days but I probably can't really post any of my favourite remixes unless I find them on  youtube

OK. I guess that I will fill in for brett and tell you about Some Remixes That I Like

Standing In The Way Of Control (Soulwax Nite Version) - The Gossip. When I was looking for this one I accidentally listened to the original version and it just sounded like a slow and uninspired cover.

Ok so none of the remixes I want to find are on youtube except as part of a playlist, or on any blogs I've been able to find, and my hard drive is currently inaccessible, but basically Simon Baker's remix "Sleep Deprivation" by Simian Mobile Disco is fucking amazing and so is Dopamine's remix of "Bump Uglies" by Bass Kleph. Crookers' remix of "We are all Prostitutes"  was fantastic enough to keep people interested in other things Crookers' did for almost an entire year afterwards! That is a pretty impressive achievement! (They did not do a lot of good stuff after that, really)

Anyway in case you do not care enough about the kind of shit I am talking about here is an excellent Tocadisco remix of a pretty average Tiga song. Sexor did not have a lot of really weak songs on it but obviously this one was bad enough to force Tocadisco to STEP UP

SMD, good call. The Armand Van Helden remix of Hustler has it's weak points, obviously not as good as the original. But pretty good.

I can't find it anywhere, but no mash-up can ever beat the genius of DJ Shitmat hammering this into this during his set on John Peel Tribute Night.

This one's pretty great as well though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-PeMH_cYLE

one of the rock stations where i am at (DC101) does mashups late at night.  Best one I heard was I think metallica's "sad but rue" for the music and then put gorrillaz vocals from "Clint Eastwood"  Was great!  Flounder's mashups have some great stuff.

A mashup of 'We Are Your Friends' by Justice v. Simian (already an amazing redo of an old song in itself) with a vulgar, sexually explicit rap song.

Art!

Also, I don't know if anyone has heard it, but I remember a mash up of PB+J's 'Young Folks' and something else, but I was drunk at a party so I might have just made that up in my head.
Anyone else heard it?

Skream's remixes of the Klaxon's "Not Over Yet" and La Roux's "In for the Kill" are my current favourite shiny things. Needs good bass mind. Probably not news to many people, but in case there are those who missed it.

I don't know how popular it is, but I stumbled across an album by the Avalanches called When I Met You, which is basically Since I Left You, with an additional 30 songs which are all fairly popular songs, and there's some great mash-ups on there. I don't remember where I found it, but it looks like you might actually be able to buy it on Amazon, which surprises me, seeing as they most likely don't have any of the rights. But here is a tracklist for it http://www.last.fm/music/The+Avalanches/When+I+Met+You

I'm really liking the Aeroplane remix of "Kilometer" by Sebastien Tellier......although it seems to be played at every club I've been to the last couple of months!

Also Aeroplane's remix of "Paris" by Friendly Fires is better than the original version.

The moral of the story is, listen to Aeroplane.

Skream's remix of In For The Kill makes the original song sound bad when you listen to it again.
