A Republic far, far Away.
messeduplilkid:
I've been playing MMO's since I was pretty young, 5th grade or so, and I have to agree that the three pillars of MMO's have been: Grind levels, Get Gear, and Meet people
Years later we're starting to realize that addiction to the grind has been great and all, but don't we deserve more?
I haven't seen a topic on it yet so I thought I'd throw it out there.
Star Wars: The Old Republic.
A new project by Bioware: who has put out fantastic Role Playing games is now delving into the area of Massively Online Role Playing games.
But rather then try to compete with World of Warcraft on the same three platforms I mentioned above, Bioware wants to move into a realm we rarely see in MMOs (at least in my experience) which is meet players on a personal level of their character and story.
I for one am interested, but not beyond a personal hope that ANYONE will beat out Blizzard's god damn abomination. As much as I hate WoW, I keep going back because no one has done anything better.

This game was announced quite a while back, a long, long time before E3, but the footage you can get from the gameplay says it all.
It's got the solid gameplay the original KOTOR had. Extensive vacting for almost everything in the game, pretty impressive for something this big. Story sounds quite important, too.
This is probably going to be a mile higher than Galaxies.
Melodic:
Galaxies was fucking awesome until it was nerfed to make it more streamlined. You could be a fucking space-bartender.
glyphic:
Leaning on your bar, running a filthy rag along the rim of an equally filthy glass and listening to some insect-faced son of a nerf-herder complain about how his brood all hatched and ate his wife.
Alex C:
I'd still rather be a nerf-herder than a moisture farmer. Fuckin' 'vaporators.
