Your cuppa tea

Eris:
I want to buy one of those tea strainer ball-on-a-chain things, to use up some of the loose leaf tea I bought, but then there are all the different kinds of those things!

I use tea bags, because they are easy, and I am lazy. I know loose leaf is better, but I put 3 sugars in, so it's really not gonna make that much difference.

--- Quote from: Inlander on 08 Jul 2009, 18:25 ---I was reading a lot of stuff about tea-bags on the first page of this thread. I don't understand why people use tea-bags. People! You don't have to make a whole pot of tea just because you're using loose-leaf (a.k.a. "real") tea! You just put a spoonful in a strainer, put the strainer over your cup, pour the water through the strainer (and the tea leaves). Makes a nice cuppa. You can even get different kinds of strainer that immerse the leaves in the tea to make a stronger cup!

Seriously, why on earth would anyone use tea-bags?

Also, one can buy tiny teapots!  They are practical, adorable, and make a good cup of tea.  Okay, using a tea bag saves you from cleaning one additional item, but that is not a good enough reason.

Inlander:
I have a teapot which makes one-and-a-half cups of tea. It's perfect. You finish your cup, and you think "I could do with just a little bit more", and hey! There it is, right there in the tea-pot.

It's amazing to me, a non tea (or coffee) drinker how much culture, refinement and effort is involved in your tea drinking habits. I'd love to participate in such rituals. It seems so ... civilised.

Unfortunately ... tea, to me, is gross.

Jimmy the Squid:
I don't drink tea. I like the smell but it just tastes like a waste of time. I am a great disappointment to my family because my grandfather used to own and manage one of the larger tea plantations in Ceylon.

I will only drink peppermint "tea" and only if I have a stomach ache because mint helps to settle your stomach (the peppermint tea my girlfriend buys is just dried and ground mint leaves in bags).
