Or, more to the point - vanishing point perspective doesn't actually work - if it did, then as you look down (standing on e.g. a sidewalk) you would just see the sidewalk tiles getting wider and wider to infinity, rather than eventually appearing as parallel and then going closer together in the other direction as you continue to turn to eventually look behind you.

Obviously I can't speak for Jeph, but when I want criticism I ask for it, from people I actually know and whose opinion I have respect for. Unsolicited artistic advice from strangers is something I find almost completely useless, and when that advice is given in a public setting like this I see it as being ego-driven rather than a result of benevolence.

Ignoring all negative comments from the people you share your work with is a bit insular, isn't it? If he were to look at my post, I don't see any reason to dismiss it just because it's from a stranger. It's pretty straightforward that there are mistakes going on in that case, and ignoring all remarks from anyone but your (likely biased) friends won't get your art too far. I understand the whole "it's his work, let him do it" mantra but I don't think the guy's satisfied with it yet, from his notes and twits and whatnot. If he knew about the mistake and didn't feel like working on it, that's fine by me.
As for it being ego-driven, I'd say the OP, sure, but if I cared I would actually post in these forums.
