Has anyone written any QC fanfiction?
jwhouk:
All right, I give. I have some. However, I'm dread to post it here because I don't wish to anger Mr. Hodges nor do I wish to anger Jeph.
Basically, it's a story about a fictional band that visits Northampton and runs into (most of) the QC cast. The catch is that the fictional band isn't "Indie" - they're a CCM band. (Think Switchfoot, but older - more like Petra.)
No, there's no sex, slash/pairing or anything like that in it. It's just interactions with the various characters (except, for some reason, Hanners). Of course, if you know what CCM is, you can guess the gist of the story. No, it's not a Chick-tract, beat you over the head with a Bible type of story. It's just genuine interaction with the characters.
It's in the same spirit as an older FF I did for another favorite webcomic of mine - Wapsi Square. That one, though, was just a "wander through their world" kind of thing.
Anyways - I'm hesitant to post it. I don't even want to put it up on Scribd, next to the QCSxS and the Cast List docs.

That doesn't sound like a thing that I would have any issues with. My caution is simply because the term fan-fiction immediately brings up images of the seamier kind of thing that is all too common.
While I'm at it, I should also remark that the particular images in the fanart thread that I was specifically concerned about in my earlier remarks (and which were complained about at the time) are no longer there; not, in fact, because I removed them - they were already inaccessible when I went through the thread yesterday pruning out dead links and discussion that relied on them (over a third of the thread). There is already a very brief fan-fiction post in there, so using that thread for more would seem to be in order.
Carl-E:
Absolutely! Fiction is an art, after all, so fanfiction is fanart. However, I recommend linking anything longer than a few paragraphs for the sake of those of us who will be reading it.
Cinead:
I do know of a writer who (with permission of the artist) has written a series based on a popular webcomic. It's John Ringo's "Troy Rising" series and it's a prequel to Howard Tayler's webcomic, "Schlock Mercenary". Ringo's series takes in the same "universe" as Tayler's comic but in the distant past, so there's no interaction between Taylers and Ringo's characters.
Is it cold in here?:
Welcome, new person!
