Not that I dislike high-school-movie tropes, but doesn't that seem a touch cliché for Jeph?
Also, I think I resent the implication that she's not attractive already and/or that she needs "help" to be pretty.

Unclean people are unattractive, so yes she needs to have a shower and put on some clothes that aren't soaked in nerdsweat, and clearly she needs "help" with that because she'd rather sit on her computer all night than put forth any effort to socialise and enjoy the company of others. It doesn't make her inherently ugly or anything, but even the prettiest girl is unappealing if her hair is greasy and she looks like she hasn't washed in days. (This also very much applies to guys, as much as many of us seem to forget it.)
