Yes, let start a thread about a rather old movie with two words and an emoticon, what an awesome idea.

Yes it's a great movie but not everyone thinks so. Why not start the thread with a question, such as: Terry Gilliam's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is an awesome movie that people's opinions on are greatly divided, why is that?" Or something like that.

Try contributing something to start a discussion before you decide to start up a thread, it's common courtesy.

Best accent ever. Just rewatched it and it really is one of Gilliam's best (I'm partial to The Fisher King though) Cleese as Robin Hood as royalty at a football match is also all sorts of fun. Finally:
43 species of parrot and nipples for men.

How do you know the O.P. was referring exclusively to the movie? It was a rather famous book first.

Maybe we could turn this thread into a Terry Gilliam thread? For example, The Fisher King is one of my all time favourites, although he didn't write the screenplay it still has the obvious Gilliam traits. Also, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus comes out pretty soon.

Maybe you should mention that a LITTLE louder. If you don't like Brazil you shouldn't be allowed to breathe...period.

My girlfriend still needs to see Brazil and I'm getting really nervous. Then again the only film she hasn't liked that we've watched together has been Arachnophobia. (this includes Ichi the Killer, Machine Girl, Army of Darkness, Zebraman, Shoot 'Em Up, Oldboy....my girlfriend is awesome)

I haven't seen Brazil. But I've seen Twelve Monkeys. That's probably my favourite of his films that I've seen. I don't see Terry Gilliam as a particularly great all-round director, but just as someone who does surreal stuff very nicely, and the other aspects decently.

His French counter-part seems to be Jean Pierre Jeunet, so if you liked Twelve Monkeys and Fear and Loathing you should check out The City of Lost Children (I already assume everyone's seen Amelie due to the insane popularity of it)

That was when he was still with Caro, though...as was Delicatessen, another fun little movie. Either way you should see Brazil.

My uncle had a 30-second part in Twelve Monkeys.

That is true, Caro had a big part in the surreal aspects. A Very Long Engagement was still a really really good movie; even if the ending was somewhat predictable.

I'm going to watch Brazil some time soon.
