Can one of our non-American observers please explain why EPL champion Manchester City got a 60m Euro fine slapped on them by UEFA?

Edit: NM, found the description of what UEFA's FFP Regulation is all about. Smacks of the Luxury Tax in MLB.

Man City denied my grandfather's hometown Stoke from an FA Cup win.  Man City denied my great grandmother's Liverpool from a league win.

I like Nico Rosberg, but I don't think he's crafty enough to sabotage qualifying.

Temperature for the Indy 500 should be about 80°F (26°C).  That's right between the barely 70° temperatures of 2013 and the 90°+ of 2012.

I just finished watching the previous race, and yeah, it's an open feud. The race for third is probably the most interesting part of this season.

Hockey WC final Russia-Finland starting...

I'm less excited about it than usual. I guess we might as well skip the WC on the Olympic years.

5-2 for Russkies. It just wasn't meant to be.

Fuck yeah Rangers!

I wasn't really big on hockey, but this years Stanley Cup playoffs have been absolutely amazing to watch. As a New York native, I gotta root for the Rangers to take the cup, but based on my novice level knowledge of the sport, I'm thinking that whoever wins in the West is going to take it.

Patiently waiting for NFL season to start...

My problem with Chicago is... well, beside that it's Chicago, is that I have a bunch of Hawks fans in my family. It's worse than a family of Cubs fans - which, oh by the way, they are as well.

Okay, I think I walked into that one.

Still - I'm torn. My "Hate the Original Six" bias is going up against "Team that hasn't won it in the last five years" bias.

The big winner, of course, is the NHL - the two largest metro areas in North America, facing each other in the championship.

Back on April 22nd, the Kings were down three games to none to San Jose, and facing a first-round exit.

Seven weeks later, they're up 3-0 in the finals, and looking at a possible sweep en route to the franchise's second Cup win.

For anyone interested in cycling, the final stage of the Criterium du Dauphine could prove very interesting today.

Short version is that Chris Froome won the opening stage of the race an held his lead even though he crashed on Friday. On Saturday, with a Summit finish, Contador attacked on the last climb and overturned a 12 second deficit to an 8 second lead. The final stage today has a double climb to a summit finish which is totally within Froome's abilities to take the race back from Contador. If he's recovered enough from his injuries.

Yep, looks like Froome was more injured than thought and a lot of the GC didn't pay attention to the long attack. They get away with this every now and again but it will have implications for the TdF.
