Would it shock you if the Sawx finished dead last in the East this year?

Just wondering.

Never going to happen.

Never say never.

Yankees are the Yankees. Rays, Jays and O's have all improved over the winter. What have the Sawx done?

What if they start eating chicken and drinking beer in May?

What if they start eating chicken and drinking beer in May?

You, like everyone on ESPN, is buying into the same "oh the Jays and O's bought a few decent players, they'll be AMAZING this year" hype that they do EVERY single year, and the Jays and O's will underperform, like always.

I think we upgraded our closer, and finally have legitimate rotation depth at 4-5. The outfield will be a little shaky, especially with Crawford injured, but I think Sweeney and Ross can step up, and having both Youkilis and Buchholz healthy will be HUGE this season. Aside from right field, the only real question right now is at shortstop. And I think a platoon of Nick Punto and Mike Aviles can cover that until Jose Iglesias is ready to come up.

That Scutaro trade WAS really baffling, though.

The best move the Jays have made was updating their unis. Even if they finish 5th, they're one of the best looking teams in the league, now.

Yes, because this is literally impossible as long as Angelos runs the Orioles. That and the fact that Showalter basically instituted a loser's mentality in the team from the beginning of last season; his whining about the payrolls in the AL East trickled down to his players throughout the year, how many times did you hear an Oriole complaining about how much money the Sawwxx and Yanks spend? It basically gives them a built in excuse to lose, it's fine because holy shit look how much less money we spent, that's the only reason we lost so it's ok.

The Orioles are a horrible organization that will never get better under current management.

I'm aware that under the current three-division setup Boston's never finished lower than third, but who's to say they couldn't finish fourth in that division?

Toronto has finished higher than third more recently than the AngelO's. They could surprise and finish third or higher (depending on the Rays, of course).

Doesn't really matter, because the winner of the AL West is going to be the odds-on favorite to win the pennant.

I will predict the following:

Albert Pujols will be the first player to hit five home runs in a single game. He will do so on his first visit to Fenway Park.
Prince Fielder may come close to being the second.

Suspicious circumstances regarding the sample. The sample was essentially unaccounted for long enough to question the validity.

Which is the reason why I think WADA is full of it.

It's almost as if SAF feels the Europa League is beneath them and is concentrating on winning his billionth league title.

Either that or the whole "no midfield whatsoever" thing doesn't work against teams that aren't psychologically conditioned to roll over against them. Either/or.

I have my red socks prepared for opening day, and my lucky Yaz jersey ready at work.

We need some damn luck. Drippy Aceves is taking the closing role, since Bailey is out for 5-6 months.  :psyduck: Why you can't just put Aceves in the rotation and platoon Bard and Melancon in the 8 & 9 role I dunno.

Hmm. He ended up well over par, 41st. McIlroy, another favourite to win, tied with him. Thing is, perhaps Tiger's had his day? It may be a shame, but there is no shortage of able players out there who are making their own history year on year. Tiger last won the Masters in 2005...its been a while.

I had a good weekend in soccer!

Arsenal clenched a pretty good if not massively convincing win over Man City (You're welcome, Shane).

Then Norwich managed to get a win against Tottenham Hotspurs, AT TOTTENHAM, which is awesome because not only does it help Arsenals dash for 3rd place, but I live in Norwich!
