That is a pretty good collection right there. There are no albums in this top eight that I disapprove of.

Wait one god damn second, how the hell did LCD Soundsystem beat BSS?? I'm absolutely floored by the result. Really it's stunning. That being said, here are my votes:
Radiohead - Kid A
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver (Despite what I wrote above, I still think this is the better album of this particular matchup)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - LYSFLAtH (very cool to see this still in running. Probably not for much longer but glad it made it so far)
Arcade Fire - Funeral (Well, this'll possibly make it past YLT but I doubt it at this point)

So...Yo La Tengo vs. Low in the final maybe? Pretty disapointing if so.

I am going to have to ask every one who is voting for Kid A is they have actually heard the Low record.

Musically I prefer Kid A, but even if I did not, voting for the "greatest album" is more than about the musical quality of the album, for me, anyway. Combination of nostalgia and the general significance of the album makes Kid A an easy winner for me.

How did Kid A win AGAIN. Over Yoshimi I can MAYBE understand if disagree with but over Fugazi into the top 8? WTF? Sound of Silver and Discovery both got through though so I guess I can't complain.

The Things We Lost In The Fire (I don't really like this particularly either but at this point I just want to see Radiohead finally lose)
ABSTAIN (I can't do it. I don't hate Kid A enough to vote that over it just for it to lose)
Sound of Silver (This one is rather difficult, but as much as I admire Akuma no Uta Sound of Silver is just nicer to listen to)
Discovery (Also hard but I would rather Discovery win it than Lift Yr Skinny Fists; it's even closer this time but I still think that Discovery is more fun to listen to, if only because it's actually in any way accessible)

I am going to have to ask every one who is voting for Kid A is they have actually heard the Low record.

why?

Because basically everyone has heard Kid A, if they are interested in modern alternative music.  Things We Lost in the Fire is a much less popular album, generally, and I would be much less likely to assume that someone had listened to it.  If the person was a regular on this forum, given how much Low is touted here, I'd expect them to be familiar with the record.  However, many people voting here have low post counts, and I know absolutely nothing about them.  The people with lower post counts in this thread seem to be voting for Radiohead more frequently than people with higher post counts.  I can only hope, if they are voting for Radiohead, that they have at least given the other album a chance.

I'm not saying I can't understand a vote for Kid A.  It's an album I enjoy a lot.  But maybe I'm also just bitter that it beat Fugazi?

No I mean "why do you think your taste in music is so special that someone who doesn't share it must not have experienced as wide a range of music as you"

and as an addendum "why would you associate post counts with breadth of musical exposure" or "why do you think that one or two people makes some kind of pattern of ignorance?"

I mean I may have implied anyone who voted for Daft Punk over the Avalanches suffered from some kind of brain damage but at least that is ridiculous enough to definitively be a joke, whereas you have implied that people who voted for Kid A might just be lazy which I think is kind of insulting.

I do not think they are a bad band at all, I am not saying that. They're good and they deserve praise, but they're not as good as everyone makes them out to be. Maybe my expectations were too high when I first heard them, but I've really just always been underwhelmed by Radiohead.

No I mean "why do you think your taste in music is so special that someone who doesn't share it must not have experienced as wide a range of music as you"

I don't think this.  You have taken some things I said and added meaning to them in a way that was by no means intended.

Man if it wasn't serious what was with this whole post

I figured I might as well attempt some justification off the top of my head.  I felt that the line of this post which you left out might make it clear that I really wasn't trying to make a big deal of it all.

I like Radiohead.  I really do.  I think they've made some great songs, and recorded some great albums.  For a while, Kid A was one of my favourite records.  I don't like it nearly as much nowdays, but I still think it is pretty great.

dude I'm just stylin' on you you don't gotta care/justify your actions

I mean I'm basically just bein' a dick cause I'm mad Discovery beat Since I Left You

I mean even though nearly half the people voted for the Avalanches I look at this thread and think "this thread does not like the Avalanches" so now I gotta rough up everyone who posts in it.

We're not so different, you and I. Just because you're a Jet and I'm a Shark doesn't mean we can't both agree that Yo La Tango should still beat Funeral.

By the way putting on my LP of Since I Left You

Radiohead - Kid A
LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
Daft Punk - Discovery (Tough choice.. I guess I ended up picking Discovery because it's more fun and uplifting, whereas Skinny Fists can really depress me sometimes)
Arcade Fire - Funeral

All of these were pretty easy, with the exception of Daft Punk vs GY!BE.
