Also, opening ports is only necessary for a host, not a client -- the problem you're experiencing is a whole bunch of people not opening ports before hosting a public server.

I didn't notice this but only because I haven't bothered redownloading it after my preload broke and it got pushed back. I really didn't think I could get bored of a game between it's release date and it actually coming out. There's another reason I probably won't actually end up playing it.

I was running 4890+4870 Crossfire.  I took the 4870 out yesterday and it's been playing ok so far (touch wood).  There was one bug I encountered really early, where Claptrap got stuck somehow just before the medical outpost in Fyrestone.  Had to reload and play through Fyrestone again for it to do the bit properly.
