OK: So far. I have watched absolutely no TV yet this season. I don't plan on substantially changing that (at the moment, I waste all my time on the Internet...), but still, I'd be interested in knowing what people thought about what's going on right now. Is there anything really good on? Spectacularly bad?

Only things I cannot miss right now are Dexter and Glee (can't wait for True Blood, Burn Notice, and Lost to come back). Other than that, Flash Forward has started and the first two episodes showed that it has potential. I'm not 100% sold on it though.

I think the first episode of Flash Forward was pretty sweet, but the second isn't really capitalizing on that potential as much as I wish it were. Maybe my expectations were just too high. Also, I can't miss House or Castle, because I love both Hugh Laurie and Nathan Fillion from other things. As such, I watch Lie to Me pretty much every week, because it's on between the two of them. Oddly enough, I also kind of love Tim Roth.

Whoa. I watch three shows because of their male lead. I don't watch any shows because of a female lead. Am I gay?

Well there's good stuff but it seems like a lot of it is "serial" television, meaning you might get lost if you just jump in. Sons of Anarchy on FX is a biker gang drama that's pretty good (it tends to push the envelope a bit in the way that The Shield did, back when that show was in its prime) but it's in its second season. I'm watching Fringe on Fox because weird sci-fi is a plus for me (it's sort of X-Filesy)

Mad Men is up on AMC and it's probably the best show on television right now writing-wise, or at least that's the consensus. I don't know when Breaking Bad comes back but it's some brutal shit that also garners a lot of accolades.

In lighter fare, I guess House might be better this season (IMO the last few seasons have been well boring) and Lie to Me is being run by Shawn Ryan now, and he created The Shield, so that might distinguish itself at some point.

As far as new shows go, I don't know, there's Glee but it's divisive. The gays love it and so do all people of discerning taste. Flash Forward looks promising. On ESPN they're celebrating their 30th anniversary by running a series of 30 hourlong documentaries (30 for 30), some from distinguished directors, about lesser-known events in sporting history. The first one was about Wayne Gretzky's move from the Edmonton Oilers to the Los Angeles Kings, and from what I understand it's really excellent.

The show's humor is actually pretty biting. It's kind of like The Venture Brothers in that it mainly seems to be about people who are failures. But I guess the characters are more hopeful than the TVB characters are.

Glee is ridiculous and hilarious. My only real problem with it is that the plot is so rushed and in the 5 episodes so far, you don't have a chance for anything to really sink before some other ridiculous twist occurs. I can't see it really going past 1 season, but it's a lot of fun to watch.

i've watched one of the new episodes of Always Sunny (fucking awesome, btw) but that's pretty much it. i don't really watch much tv besides that.

my parents are really into Heroes though and they seem to be enjoying it so....

The only TV I've been watching so far this season is Heroes, and that I've been catching through netflix (no commercial interruption). To be honest it seemed like it was going well, except "Oops, Sylar's back for another season and pissed as usual, that one-trick pony never gets old folks."

Heroes was never good. Not even the first season. People just kept giving it chances and it kept getting worse.

I'm partial to Dollhouse, particularly since the last few episodes of Season 1 and the unaired finale "Epitaph One" were fucking incredible, but the new season is getting off to a slow start and there's already [more] talk of cancellation. At best I think it'll run through this season and be over. At worst, it's cancelled after this week's episode, and Joss is hanged for going back to the network he swore he'd never work for again.

Yeah pretty much. It wasn't only that though. A couple of the signs she did were wrong. And in a later scene she picked up a dudes cello in the park and the music didn't sync up with her hand movements.

gonna start by saying that dvr is basically one of the best inventions ever. some that i would mention already have been so here's a couple that haven't.

warehouse 13 on syfy (dumb rename by the way) is actually a lot of fun to watch. ncis la is really worth seeing as well.

speaking of flashforward, i don't know why it's gotten some bad press. it seems like it's a really good show to me. i hope it keeps going.

Warehouse 13 is immature, but vaguely entertaining. NCIS seemed to me to be a collection of stereotypes with no depth. I've only watched maybe 10-15 episodes, though. That seems rather large, but it was on before making dinner time, but after work time.

Also, I agree with Glee. The pilot episode made me hate everything, but I decided that so many of you people had recommended it that I'd give it another episode and I'm glad I did.

p.s. Right before I posted this, I sneezed and bit my tongue in the process. It's bleeding now and my life is pain.

I actually really enjoy Leverage. It's not particularly deep, just a fun show about thieves with a Robin Hood complex.

I haven't watched a full episode of Glee, but the snippets I've seen have seemed okay until the teacher's wife came on, and I'm like "hey this character is one-dimensional and boring and obviously supposed to inspire the audience's hate." Enough to make me turn it off.

Only real shows I'm watching lately that are actually being made are Mad Men, Breaking Bad and How I Met Your Mother. Oh, and the occasional Aussie TV show, like Spicks and Specks or Masterchef when it's on (for some reason I love that show).

Well i was watching Alone in the Wild on Nat Geo but i guess that show is over since the guy couldnt cut it. I also watch Sons of Anarchy, its probably the most edgy show in TV right now. Entourage just had its season finale so that sucks, but Bored to Death might be able to replace it just not sure if I like it yet or not. And thats about it. I dont watch many network shows cuz well i think they mostly suck.

Basically I have the television taste of a sexually confused 14 year old boy. But its actually just incidental that Glee is so good, Gossip Girl is 'lifestyle porn', the main protagonist in Vampire Diaries is so pretty and that I am a fanboy of BSG and Firefly so I watch Dollhouse.

Do what I do, then. Root for her! It becomes a more entertaining show when it's about her trying to get what she needs.

Glee had (has?) potential, but I'm a little skeptical. Points to this show for picking up on a truly deflated genre (high-school-musicals) for satire gold, and for constructing characters that engage stereotypes without becoming tired stand-ins for high-school character tropes. But the plot movement's been fast and superficial, throwing in twists and complications that are both excessive and stupid. The glee club, itself, didn't even spend too much time relishing in all its loner-outcast glory before cheerleaders and football players started joining (a truly unconvincing progression of events at this pace). I'll stick with it for a few more episodes, but my expectations aren't high.

Gossip Girl is totally, totally washed-up as far as I'm concerned. It's now entirely banking on its good looks to cover up for shallow and overstated drama, and the satire that used to make it so brilliant is totally out of the picture. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb; it's off my to-watch list.

There was a third show, but it's just slipped my mind because all I can think about is how tremendously disappointing True Blood's season finale was.

Oh my goodness duh Mad Men. Mad Men is the only show on television you must be watching right now.

Critics have blah-blah-blahed about meticulous period details and cigarettes and Don-Draper-mystique. Whatever. What makes Mad Men brilliant is its women. It is a portrait of women that is at once poignant and problematic, and not too mention one of the few places on television where women are characters and not facile-placeholders-for-people-expressly-intended-to-move-the-plot. I'd blah-blah-blah about Joan for pages, but I kinda have class. (Boiling it down: Joan is the best character on television, everybody, and if you think differently it is because you are wrong.)

- NCIS
- House
- Bones
- Top Gear

Still on the fence about:

- NCIS Los Angeles (After watching the original for X seasons the new one seems awkward. One character looks just like Edna Mode from The Incredibles though.)
- Castle (It's kinda like Murder She Wrote but edgier)

Shows I wish would just go away:

- Anything Seth McFarlane has crapped out after the first 5 relaunch episodes of Family Guy
- Vampire romance (by this point the whole genre is annoying as hell)
