As far as I know, nothing was established, I guess I'm just not inclined to give the man the benefit of the doubt. But yeah, the girl could have been a diabetic and maybe Doherty was giving her the insulin she needed and saving her life.

Or taking the needle out of her. Or, seeing as heroin has quite quick effects, she wasn't unconscious but just laaaaaiiiid back because he'd just injected smack into her voluntarily.
