There's about a thousand reasons why your ancestors left in the first place. Most of them prevail.
My ancestors left Switzerland for Germany because they were tired of being hunted down, tortured, and killed by the catholic church, with the approval of the Swiss government. After that, my ancestors left Germany for America for the same reason, except this time it was the Protestants
and the Catholics doing it. Those reasons don't really hold up any more, since both governments have become a bit less fond of religion-based persecution during the last century, for some reason. I wouldn't want to go to Germany because of censorship laws and gun politics, but my main reasons for not wanting to live in Switzerland are how much of a bitch it is to get citizenship, the conscription (even though I heard from a resident that roughly 50% of men don't do the service, not sure if that is conscientious, physical, or what), and the possibility of it being miserably cold and humid in the winter. If I had to leave the country for some reason, however, Switzerland would probably be my first choice of where to go.
Barring a draft or something else that would make me need to find a different country of residence, however, I just want to live in someplace nice and cool with lots of rain, lax gun laws, and plenty of empty space. The nice thing about America is that you have a large variety of weather, culture, people (not sure if that counts as part of culture), and geography, without having to deal with moving between countries.
