Fixed that. I suspect the American pop Iliad, if there is such a thing, lies in the various superhero tales, mostly Golden Age stuff. I'm sure Superman will last as long as Baum's tales.

Batman probably will as well - as will Captain America and Spiderman from the Marvel properties, all of those boys are definitely mythic enough to last.
