So I'm off to court tomorrow to be a witness for an assault case. Two defendants had pleaded guilty, their hearing is next Monday. Tomorrow is the full trial for the other defendant. The crime was six months ago and I can barely remember it. I don't suppose anyone has any advice? I've never done this before, and although I have a reasonable idea of what to expect, I'm not exactly looking forward to it.

I have never been involved in a trial, but my advice is to be completely honest - if you are not certain about something, then say so. Don't try and sound sure about something if you're not. Potentially someone's liberty is at stake, so don't let anyone browbeat you into being sure if you aren't. You aren't letting anyone down by telling the truth (even if the truth is "I'm sorry, I have no idea") but you are if you exaggerate, lie or hypothesise.

Blog thread, I just came back from a church group and went to heat up a microwave pudding before going to the library for a couple of hours, and I melted the microwave pudding pot. So I dug the molten plastic out, smothered it in yoghurt and ate it anyway. I have hit a new low :(

I can't be bothered to look up the quote from Tania about eating donuts off the floor, but you get the idea.

I've routinely been eating sandwiches made out of cottage cheese and peanut butter and the cheapest bread I can get in order to scrape by over the last couple months. It's protein, at least, and at this point I can eat pretty much anything. I don't really spread out the peanut butter or anything either. It just all gets glopped on there and then I go on with my life.

i completely lost my shit at work again today, this time in a much worse way than the first time i wrote about it which is pretty bad considering i was already pretty embarrassed the first time it happened and was really hoping it wouldn't happen again. after several hours of uncontrollable raving and sobbing my boss now knows how much i hate my job and how overwhelming and agonizingly stressful it is for me. i think i still have some job security for the time being as management have had absolutely no luck with hiring people right now and are actually pretty dangerously short-staffed. maybe they are going to start looking to seriously hire my replacement soon and fire me, i don't really know. i don't see why they wouldn't start looking after today, frankly. i'm a trainwreck. i don't know how badly i even want the extra money anymore.
i don't really know what to do with myself right now. everything sort of feels like a massive pile of shit. maybe it would be easier if i didn't work constantly and actually still had friends or something. i could probably deal with a job i hate or being lonely individually but together it is starting to become really, really immensely unbearable. i wonder if i can actually make it four more months like this. fucking hell, i really need a break.

sorry about this post, guys.

They will take you into their coven and sacrifice you to their witch-gods.

That trial I was supposed to attend has been adjourned. Of course I didn't get told until I had been waiting there for three hours. Waste of a morning.

Today I realised that the cute new waitress at my local bakery/cafe/fancyplace doesn't dislike me even though I'd always kind of got a bit of a bad vibe from her. Probably because I'm a bit neurotic about such things and because the first time she served me there she gave me the wrong order (just some takeaway bread) because I hadn't made myself clear enough or she hadn't heard me properly or something and she was a bit short with me and it was a bit weird and uncomfortable. But yesterday she was very smiley and I complemented her on her brooch (it was a sailing ship) and we joked about it for a bit and today I went in there to get a couple of rolls to take away at the end of the day she gave them to me for free ostensibly because she used her hands to get them instead of the tongs.

It makes me happy. I don't like having cute waitresses cross with me.

Oh also I've got a crazy mess of writing stuff going on at the moment too but I'll Blogthread about that later maybe.

In addition, this week is apparently Man Week which means tonight a bunch of my friends are gathering to watch Rambo and drink beer and do stupid shit. What the fuck is going on here I don't know

Oh god last time I watched Rambo we were drinking every time someone got hurt. For the record this is pretty close to the worst idea you can have.

Jens, I would say that braving the "initiation" is far more manly than watching Rambo!

Blog thread, here are three things I did not do this evening:
I did not forget that I had a play rehearsal, effectively swallowing up the evening.
I did not eat 230g of Cadburys Caramel in one go.
I did not spend half an hour of what evening I have on Blogger when I have work for tomorrow.

Aren't I a good girl?

b) see what the hell these two girls are planning. We were at a flea market together this weekend and we stumbled over a movie about Sylvia Plath, I have a suspicion they're going to make me watch it (I detest Plath, they both love her stuff).

I also texted one of them asking whether I should bring anything, and she answered "just your dignity and will to live". Also it started snowing outside. This is getting increasingly scary.

Jeans, in making your decision, I ask only that you consider this:

If you go to guys night, the most likely outcome is that you come back here and say "we drank and watched Rambo. It was alright."

If you go with the girls, who knows. You could come back here with a story about how they literally wanted to initiate you into some sort of mystery religion where you were bound and blindfolded and asked to recite obscene prayers to old and forgotten gods until your mind was attuned and awakened to the great truths that govern the universe. Or you could say "we drank watched this movie about Sylvia Plath. It was alright."

He has made the only and correct decision.  Since he is not me the chances of something interesting happening go up to about 15%.

It's such a weird situation at work right now.

I turned down a job because there was no pay raise and it was based on a 2 year grant.  They did tell me that I would have job security if I switched and I would get my old job back.  But since my job is based on civil service then that would mean I would be "quitting" my current job.  So I was told by a third party that the reason two other people were telling me to take the job was because of budget concerns and that one of them would take my position at the end of two years and I would be out of job.  Which makes a lot more sense than the reasons the two people gave me for taking the job.

I can't believe this sort of BS happens at a library.  I am doing well at my job.  I would never do this kind of backhanded bullshit to someone else.  Does everyone else in the world do this shit?

I just don't understand why people are such back-biting shitheads.

Dear dog bread,

All of the teachers in my school district (Capistrano Unified School District, in SoCal) are going on strike starting tomorrow, due to various bullshittery by the school board. I'm not sure what to think about it, but it's all everyone's talking about and I might be able to convince my parents to let me stay home instead of go to school tomorrow. If I went, I'd be corralled into a gym most likely, being babysat by substitutes who haven't been background-checked, and supervised by armed guards.

Just got Cubase SX3 working with my Tascam board and Guitar rig 3. I had spent hours and hours screaming at it in the past but tonight I built all the settings and patches and saved a template and now I should have no more problems.

This almost makes up for the fact that I hate my job and it is making me lose what little faith in humanity I have left!

Plus, jam session tomorrow night! Gonna lay some tracks and see about getting a gigging band together. There's hope for me yet, I suppose!

Dear Blog Thread,

I blocked my cousin from my Facebook today. I was sick and fucking tired from him insinuating that my girlfriend's health and disabilities (she's been in a wheelchair for most of when I've known her) would hold me back, and today he recommended to me that I sleep with one of my best friends. Earlier he said it would be okay for me to date other girls on the side.

I did the right thing, right? Because fuck that noise and if he has the gall to disrespect the girl I love and say that she isn't worth anything to me because she's in a wheelchair and that I could do better than that then I don't give two fucks if we're in the same family, if you seriously think that, you're fucked in the head and I don't want him part of my life.

I stayed up all night working on a take home final exam for my Memory and the Brain course. Interesting stuff, but the questions were impossibly vague and broad, open to tons of research, and were supposed to be answered in an impossibly tiny amount of space. But I am finished now, and feeling pretty satisfied with things. Now, to get some sleep, look over what I wrote, do some edits, and hand it in by four in the afternoon.  Woo!

Latest I've ever ever stayed up working on something for school.  Clearly not working on this more yesterday was a mistake.

Shit sucks, but I'm just glad that I'm fine, nobody got hurt, and it was my last day of class before a break.

In other slightly less shit news, girl I like and was hanging out with last night (not cause of me falling asleep) is going to take me to class because we have that class together.  I'm such a good student that I wreck my shit, then find a way to class.

Just had an awesome lunch break with the ice hockey team, drinking the best milkshakes I've ever had from a shop. Now that the season is over and we don't have a reason to meet up three times a week, we're going to make lunch a regular team event. Awesome.

And now I'm going to watch my friend shave her head.

The older dog, Lucy, has been progressively more poorly since coming back from her adventures on Dartmoor a couple of weeks ago.  We've just taken her to the vet, who found a presumably tumorous mass in her abdomen. Next Tuesday we will find out if it is operable or not; spleen good, liver bad...  The heart murmur is probably a secondary effect.

slightly more upbeat than the last two times i posted in here: i ordered some shirts from topatoco in anticipation of my big tax return and the email i got yesterday said they would arrive in approximately 2-3 weeks and they just arrived today! i don't know how they arrived so early but i am very pleasantly surprised regardless! finally i own some t-shirts that i did not buy in like, 2005.

Sunday or Monday I am gonna go to the sports store at the mall and buy some rollerblades, a hockey stick, gloves, and a puck and start practicing skating around while I save up for the rest of the gear for the roller hockey team I am gonna join. The team's name is the Peter Northstars

My friends took me out to an arcade for my b-day and it was funnn. I won a giant monkey from a giant claw game (after trying a million times to try to get the lizard he was after first) and he was in total shock when I handed it over to him. So cute!

Dear Blog Thread,

I've been going around referring to everyone as 'kittentits'.

Good times!

Fucking hell.

My extended family is hells of catholic and my craziest aunt apparently found out somehow* that I had paid for a friend's abortion a few months back since she's a struggling college student. I'm already somewhat estranged from these people to begin with, so it shouldn't bother me this much, but it still kind of does. The most irritating part is that my aunt implied that I was irresponsible and seemed to fish around for whether it was my kid etc, etc. Which, you know isn't true, but ultimately doesn't matter, I guess. First off, it's none of her damn business to begin with. And there's obviously no "winning" this because even if she believed me my family still wouldn't approve of me just saying "Alright, I'll help," and signing a check for an abortion.

*I'm guessing it was pregnant girl's best friend who let something slip, since she asked her friend for help before dialing me.
