tell me about bands that could be labeled as sludge bands

KvP:
I ate a YOB once, I'm pretty sure.

You made me realize I haven't listened to YOB since 2008. I'd just completely forgotten about them.

I'm going to spin The Unreal Never Lived right now.

Nodaisho:
Crowbar, Down, Corrosion of Conformity, Weedeater.

Down and CoC mix in quite a bit of southern rock influence, which I don't think is too uncommon, considering how much sludge is made in the south. Crowbar might be a bit of an acquired taste because of the singer's limited vocal range, same with Weedeater.

Khar, I assume that isn't meant as an insult, is it? I know that in a huge list of metal bands you liked that you posted at one point, Crowbar was in there, and so was Alabama Thunderpussy, even though they are more southern metal than sludge metal.

sean:
so i've played all the links and so far i've dug the stuff from wills post the most. which doesn't surprise me, that shit seems to be the most 'core leaning sludge posted.

valley_parade:
Teeth of Lions Rule The Divine.

It's basically Anderson/O'Malley (the Sunn 0))) dudes), with Justin Greaves from Electric Wizard on drums and Lee Dorrian on vocals. Nice and sludgy.
