Tomorrow night, 1-3 AM Mountain Standard Time (Midnight for the West Coasters, something like 3 for the East Coasters) I don't know what I'll play yet. Probably bass-y stuff, seeing as how it's going to be a friday night.

My friend Katy had a college DJ gig and I co-hosted with her one time because it was past 11pm therefore school staff didn't give a fuck anymore and she said it was awkward having someone to talk to because she was so used to rambling on and on to herself and assuming no one was listening.

We looked a week later at the stream logs and we had 6 whole listeners! I feel famous.

We have music logs, for sure. But Rob was asking about playing back shows not currently on air. I don't think we do podcasts and I don't know if we record our shows, generally.

What I meant was we keep up back ups of everything that's played, so if you want to grab it after you've done your show you can access the computer and grab the relevant sets of 15 minutes from our 'megatron' computer (that's how it should work theoretically anyway). I'm not sure how long we keep the shows afterwards.

I don't know if we've got whole shows, but we certainly have a majority of our music in an electronically-accessible vault. I burn my own CDs for my show though.

The commentary is sparser than most DJs I know of, but I've never listened to KCSU before, so that might be the way it normally is, and it works well with the kind of music you are playing.

Heh, it's also early in the morning and I'm liable to make more mistakes the more I talk

when I get to a better timeslot, I'll be doing more gabbing. Right now I like to let the music do the talking.

I've already got some great modern opera lined up for next week. If anybody has any fairly decent-sounding songs of theirs they want on the radio early in the morning in small-town Colorado, let me know. FCC regulations apply. No inciting of drug use, no sexually explicit material and no swearing. I'm serious about that, btw- the fines we'd have to pay for one slip-up would take up our entire budget for the year.

So far it has been Friday night/Saturday morning at 1AM mountain time, so 3AM Eastern or midnight Pacific. I think it would be 8AM GMT, but I'm not sure enough of how daylight savings works with regards to GMT.

For anyone interested, my weekly radio show will begin on Thursday March 11th or 18th (might not be around on the 11th) from 2-4pm EST. It streams online at wxbc.bard.edu through itunes or windows media player or whatever. The show is called The William Walker Weekly Revue and it features a whole bunch of ambient, drone, psychedelic, noise, post-rock, electronics a la Maryanne Amacher, and other stuff. Gonna try to run the gamut of the genres running from ultra subdued (Stars of the Lid) to totally harsh (The Holy See). So uh...tune in in a couple weeks maybe?

Yeah, and John's show is on at an inconvenient time for me to actually listen to it cus usually around that time on Friday nights I'm not really anywhere that I am in control of what's being listened too. Or my state is a bit too altered for me to remember that it's happening. I kind of wish I'd remembered one of the past few weeks, but at least there's yr blog, I guess.

I'm afraid that I'm gonna have a similar problem. Like, starting this week I'm gonna have a weekly radio show at 8-10pm GMT-6, but I feel like half the people I've tried to tell about my show are going to be getting ready for parties or just doing their own Saturday night thing instead of listening to my silly college radio show.

Oh man I forgot to adequately pimp my show.

It is called "The Worst Toilet in Scotland." It is Saturdays from 8-10pm GMT-6, that is, Central Standard Time. (That means the first one is tonight!!)

I am co-hosting with a friend of mine. We'll probably play lots of disco-derivative electronic dance music, some dubstep, some post-punk, assorted lo-fi shit, noise and noise-pop. This fella and I are still feeling out what to play, but when all else fails, we'll go with our guts and play what we love. We spent a good hour and a half yesterday talking about various ambient stuff so we'll probably throw on some Boards of Canada or the Field at some point. The point is, I'm really excited, and I hope a few of you decide to listen.

A certain female guest dj, or will any one do? I'm sure we can grab a gel from the hallway outside the station if we need to. What kind of pr do you mean? I mean, we send out the occasional facebook reminder and there are a few leaflets around the local area, but I'm not sure what else to do.
