That wasn't at all my intent. I'm really sorry if you took it that way, I can see now how you could read it like that. The more I think about it the meaner that seems but I really didn't mean to offend.

It was mostly a throwaway comment that came from knowing you have a background in art and then noticing that there can actually be a big intersection in what people from either side are interested in (not that they're even really separate and opposing sides now that I'm thinking about what I'm saying). I said something dumb and I'm sorry about that.

Long story short, lots of people, including myself sometimes, look at what I do and wonder if it's art or I'm a wannabe researcher trying to get around the scientific establishment.

Honestly, going around the silly politics of the scientific academic community (at least as far as I've experienced it) to chase up something you're interested in is a very commendable thing. I think as long as you're satisfying your curiosity and keeping yourself interested in what you're doing then you're golden.

Well, there was that scientific research back in the late 90s or early 00s that said bats and humans might be "closely related", but I don't think that's what they meant . . .

I finally started learning Unity since the tool has gone free and I had some time last weekend. I built a quick web demo because I wanted to play with simple flocking behavior, developing in this tool is ridiculously fast:
