More accurate to say it was the first RTS with competitive multi-player. Warcraft was actually a pretty big seller, which is why WCII was able to compete on pretty even terms with C&C despite coming out a tiny bit later.

Holy crap, Tiberian Sun... My dad's old company did motion capture for the cut scenes, so as thanks I got a copy of the boxed Deluxe Edition a few weeks before it was released. It was pretty cool, had a soundtrack (that I never appreciated), a book of concept art, and a neat little foot soldier pewter figurine that sat on top of my old monitor. That stuff's probably buried in a drawer somewhere back home, now I wanna go dig it out and finish the campaigns that used to kick my ass...
