Yeah that's right, they turn from robots into shitting rocks. And no, the reasoning why this variant on the Transformers theme was supposed to be awesome was never explained (except Nuggit being played by Roddy McDowall) but this in no way stopped me owning several and the movie.

That's because they didn't make sense. Pokemon spelled out what you had to do pretty well.
And Linds, buy a DS and get the new Pokemon games, they are wonderful.

Oh my god I had one of these for longer than I can remember. Like, my entire childhood, I remember having one of these and having no effing clue what the hell it was.
