Ballard:
Dude everyone knows Jesus got banned years ago because he kept making fun of Jeph's comic. I see him around on Hipinion every once in a while.

Well, at least he doesn't have to worry about it being too hot.

The lowdown is that we have to be in Banff on October 14th so we can hit up some job fairs + interviews for jobs on the ski hills over winter. Right now I am in Bradenton, FL. What this means is that we have just under a month to drive from the very bottom of the United States of America (actually it's the wang), to a couple of hours north of the very tippy top.
The principal upshot of this is, to my great, great, great, great, great
great chagrin, I will not be able to go to Chicago. It's just plain too far out of the way.
the new route goes something like this (if all goes according to plan):
-We leave Bradenton tomorrow for New Orleans. It'll be a couple of days driving to get to there, so we're going to have to stop somewhere in between. We stay there til 10/27, at which point we drive to
-Memphis, TN, where we will spend a couple of days.
-We swing up to Fort Collins, CO to hang with John via a one-night stop-off in Wichita, KS.
-From there it's Mt. Rushmore and Deadwood in South Dakota, followed by a couple of night camping in Yellowstone National Park
-and then a few days of punishing, 12-hour drives and sleeping in Wal-Mart parking lots to make it up to Alberta.
All of which is definitely Not Chicago.
Liz:
Are you ever going to make it to Fargo or Minneapolis or Chicago? Maybe next year?
Will I have to rope Brittany into a road trip to Mount Rushmore to hang out with you?
David_Dovey:
I wouldn't expect anybody to do that but that would be really, unbelievably cool. RushmoreCon.
EDIT: But uh yeah, probably after the winter? Chicago is still crazy out of the way of anything else we really want to see but it's also, like, no. 1 on my list of places to go. It's gonna be a logistical nightmare no matter what.
KvP:
I'm half-tempted to call up my aunt and uncle in Memphis and ask them if you guys can stay with them - they converted their garage into an extra apartment, it's pretty rad.
That's pretty tempting, actually. Both of them work and they have some kids who go to school but if you can keep yourselves occupied during the day I'm sure we can arrange something. I'm sure they'd love to show you what Memphis bbq is and should be.
* addendum - Talked to my mom and she said that is probably something they would love to do. So if you haven't already booked a place in Memphis I'm sure you can stay with my family.
