I'm still learning Japanese, and I would still like to visit there at some point, but there is so much fucked up about the culture. So very much.

Dovey, all the museums and whatnot you want to see - check their websites for free or discounted days. You'd be surprised at how many museums have free/discount days/times. The Guggenheim and MoMA both have free/pay as you wish times, I do believe, on certain days and I'm sure a lot of other places do as well.
