snubnose:

--- Quote from: J on 01 Jul 2010, 01:09 ---as i read it, she is blushing over marten's assessment, but not over steve's. this increased reaction could be seen to suggest that that his opinion carries more weight with her than steve's. this is possible reason for steve to be concerned, though nothing he can really blame marten for.

--- End quote ---
I assumed she registered Steve's "sexy" as "generic applause from boyfriend who is sexually turned on by me no matter what I wear", while Marten's "nice" translated to "genuine applause from second party not my boyfriend who might actually be onto something".

Tuitsuro:

--- Quote from: Arancaytar on 01 Jul 2010, 01:28 ---The middle word's upper half is in the second panel, and doesn't look like "will" or even "WILL Be". It doesn't look like anything else that comes to mind, either... "UEU Be"?

--- End quote ---

I thought that at first too, but it's an optical illusion of sorts.  It actually is Will, with a capital W and lower case 'i'.

Also, this:

sieckanddestroy:
I would've preferred "Shoplifters Will Be Prostituted".

Akima:
Shoplifters will be pulverised!

Is it cold in here?:
I actually heard someone mix "prosecuted" and "persecuted" by accident. It was an Icelander describing what her countrymen wanted to do to the banking elite. She's fully bilingual but doesn't have a lot of occasions to use the word "prosecute", so it got mixed up.

This is not to make fun of her. Based on my efforts to learn languages, I respect bilingual people to the point of being intimidated by them.
