DJ Shadow
Chad Warner:
So tonight I found myself listening to DJ Shadow for the first time. I've been gaining a larger interest in Hip-Hop over the past year and heard about Shadow through a friend. When I started listening to "Endtroducing..." I felt this undeniable urge to find out more about him, his history, what he has produced, what he has done for instrumental hip-hop as well as more about instrumental Hip-Hop in itself. If anyone happens to have the time then I would love to gain some knowledge on the subject.
I'm hoping to hear from someone who has extensively researched the information. I'm not really looking for a wikipedia article because I can do that on my own. I'm looking for an in depth introduction and whatever more you have to offer.
Thanks,
Chad
Chad Warner:
I feel silly saying this. But what I want is further exposure and an education.
a pack of wolves:
Go listen to Donuts by J Dilla. Mainly on the principle that everyone should be listening to that record on a regular basis.
KvP:
DJ Shadow peaked early with Endtroducing. Dilla is the logical next step. Also Madlib, who you can spend months on.
scarred:
Cut Chemist's The Audience is Listening was my gateway drug into instrumental hip-hop. Kid Koala is definitely worth checking out, as well.
