also i bike but i'm pretty sure that friction vs. denim has nothing to do with it.

My pants, without fail, always develop a hole in exactly the same place, just behind and to one side of the seam in the crotch. Considering getting every new pants I buy reinforced straight away. I have lost damn near every pair of dress pants I own (including several that belonged to suits) because of it. Although that has as much to do with me being too dang lazy/inattentive to go get it fixed when it is a small enough hole to invisible mend.

Once again, that button setup seen above doesn't just reduce stress on the button, but across the whole front of the pants.
