(a) not everyone lives in the same country
(b) movie theatres around the world dont all show exactly the same movies
(c) many english movies never travel to to other countries

Or in short: scott what ?

Have you heard of this wonderful invention known as the world wide web?

It was even a comic book for years before the movie came out.

DoubleJ:
Y'know, about a third of the webcomics I read have had their authors moistening their pants over this movie for the last month or two now. Even Warren Fucking Ellis is tweeting about it. I can't escape the thing without abandoning the internet entirely.

All I can do now is hope this movie fails miserably and leaves the author with nothing but whiskey-soaked crushed dreams. Because then I'll never have to hear about this damn movie ever again.

Near Lurker:
Also, the evil exes are all American, aren't they?  I thought that was part of the joke, that Americans casually fight to the death for stupid reasons.

Carl-E:
Ummm... the Scott Pilgrim author, who was heavily involved with the movie, is Canadian, not American.  True, it's sometimes hard to tell the difference, but there is one.

Also, it really is everywhere;  I'm an NPR junky (worked at various stations from 1978 - 1990), and just on NPR alone we have

And lastly, http://www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2010/08/12/129150813/-scott-pilgrim-versus-the-unfortunate-tendency-to-review-the-audience

Also, seeing the original comic art for the first time, it's rather reminiscent of Meredith Gran's (of Octopus Pie) art.  I don't know about the movie, but now I really want to read the comic!

I live in the UK; the movie is not out here (will be next weekend, I believe).  In spite of this, I have read the books; I first came across them from reading another part of this forum (here).  Keep up!
