--- Quote from: Carl-E on 16 Aug 2010, 09:01 ---Ummm... the Scott Pilgrim author, who was heavily involved with the movie, is Canadian, not American.  True, it's sometimes hard to tell the difference, but there is one.

--- End quote ---

Exactly.  And Ramona and her ludicrously violent exes are American.

flamingo:
Scott Pilgrim VS The World was kind of like Twilight for a male audience.

Nonetheless, I guess it was better than most mainstream movies of its genre.

SleeperCylon:
If I'm ever going to see that Scott Pilgrim movie, the ads better be showing the stupidest scenes in the entire movie.

And I refuse to believe Marten girlier than Michael Cera.

Heliphyneau:
A couple of observations:

1. Faye really has cute-face in panel 1!  Like she's genuinely happy and not freaking out!  This is a good, yet surprising, thing.
2. Her dress may be low-cut, but Faye would not go without a bra, particularly on her first actual date in awhile.  OK, so that's just my interpretation (duh), but seriously, it seems likely she'd want those puppies reined in for now.
3. The perspectives are great in the "fight" scenes!  Especially panels 2 and 5 -- hell, Marten pointing dramatically almost deserves to be its own meme.
4. The ending slapfight is hilarious and awesome.  Though I suppose this could start off the Marten/Angus shippers . . .

All in all, a great strip!  I'm glad Jeph's feeling better now.

westrim:
I cannot read Angus's lines without thinking of all the times I heard that from Soul Calibur 2.

I haven't seen the movie or read the books so I withhold personal judgment, but I did look it up a couple weeks ago after I heard the buzz. The concept at least is interesting and tongue in cheek.

Trying to make Akima feel better by using references she knows?  :-D

--- Quote from: snubnose on 16 Aug 2010, 07:50 ---Contrary to popular belief:

(a) not everyone lives in the same country
(b) movie theatres around the world dont all show exactly the same movies
(c) many english movies never travel to to other countries

Or in short: scott what ?

--- End quote ---
And yet you post that in the forum of an American webcomic, made by an American, which you viewed by accessing the 'internet' which has tools called 'search engines' that you could have used (like, say, Akima did) instead of bitching- about a movie based on a Canadian graphic novel series. Oh Snub, I can always count on you to say something silly for me to mock.

Your opinion is your own to keep, but I'll note that there is a key difference: Scott Pilgrim is a gleeful parody of its subject (videogames). Twilight is a morose self insert fic that challenges the conventions of its genre (vampires) only because the author was unaware of them.
