I'm not surprised.  I've been lurking a while.  I think there a couple of other folks of advanced age.  That's why I said "among the oldest"

You need to qualify for one of them brooms. If I remember correctly, it was something like taking a morally correct stance on a completely unimportant subject (something in a web comic), which would not make any difference anyway since the author of the web comic isn't listening to us anyway.

Or something.

Which kinda sucks, I agree. At the time, I was agreeing with the holder of the original UBMEOD (I forget his name, but he does quite look like Gene Wilder. I just couldn't say so, because I couldn't f***ing register.

Yes, I was in the same frustrating position.  I felt I had something interesting and not lame to say, and could only lurk.  And it's Tergon you're thinking of. 

Perhaps we Johnny-come-lately's could someday earn a UBMEOD 2.0?
