Seriously:

Clockwise from the left:
A Garbage plate, which is the most famous food from my town, but which, in this case has only burgers in it.
A Golder Retriever (bacon and cheddar),
A Bernese Mountain Dog (mushrooms, Dijon mustard, swiss and mushrooms),
A Bulldog (mustard, relish, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, pepperoncini & celery salt),
and a Boston Terrier (bacon, baked beans, and meat sauce).

They all come from Dogtown Hots, which is one of only a handful of things I am going to miss when we move. Also this place has the most excellent fries and sweet potato fries. Also, anything is available without meat if you desire a less satisfactory experience. That Bulldog is veggie because it was Pat's.

We don't really have any good hot dog place here but we do have Noodlebox which makes some of the best fast food around.

Chicago Dogs are a victim of their own hype. They are good but nowhere near as good as the lines at Hot Doug's indicates while Dog Town is just pure small business Zweigel brand bliss.

7-11 also sells twinkies and sno-balls, and their hotdogs are terrible. Also part of the win of Dogtown hots is the bread, which is chewy but soft wonderful baguette like bread made by a local bakery. Your A-bomb looks to be on a regular roll.

Sausages are usually ground and processed meat (usually offcuts and the bits no one wants) and can be pretty nice. Hot dogs are also known as Frankfurts and are similar to though more horrible than sausages. All of those hot dogs pictured would be improved by using actual sausages.

See, I would agree with this but it is ignoring certain brands of Hot Dogs. Oscar Meyer and a few other brands are terrible but Zweigle's is probably the best sausage I've ever had, of the Hot Dog or traditional Frankfurter variety and that is all Dog Town uses. Zweigles Red Hots and White Hots are both great, though the Red Hots are much much better in my opinion.

Hotdogs are the only food I've come across that is ALWAYS better homemade. I would wager with the right ingredaments its simple to make better hotdogs at home. My town's hotdogs are average. I've sampled hotdogs across the world and never come across one that was truly satisfying.

Zweigles Hot dogs are locally made juicy, plump and wonderful. They are in natural casings so they have a nice snap to them, and are oh so good. Comparing them to a Bar-S or Oscar Mayer hot dog is like comparing frozen fish sticks to a fish fry.

Yeah most of those hotdogs look like someone a hotdog, shat it out, ate the shit and then vomited it up and put it on a bun, occasionally topped with some chopped vegetables. I'm sure they're tasty and all but I prefer most of my meals not to look pre-digested.

as mentioned in the twinkies thread - you guys are doing this all wrong. the no. 1 rule in absolutely any food based argument is no never use anything but REALLY good looking photos to make your point. restaurants hire professional makeup artists and photographers for their food for a reason!

One of the best hot dogs I have ever had was from the hot dog truck outside the Toronto Comicon. My girlfriend and I loved them so much it's all we had for lunch the entire 3 days.

Urghhhh, even before I stopped eating dairy I couldn't stand non-melted cheese. It raged me up so bad when I visited the states in my early teens and ordered hotdogs only to find the cheese almost completely unmelted. FUCK THAT SHIT. If you're gonna cheese your hotdog you must grill it so the cheese melts appropriately. Anything less is UNACCEPTABLE.

So Sackville, NB, is a magical place to me. Every time I have been there, there has been live music all over the downtown street and lovely food for sale (in defense of normalcy I have been there a) for a music festival and b) for the market morning). The town is this interesting kind of artifact of an older kind of town-layout, preserved by the university and the artists and musicians living there. It is really quite lovely.

Last time I was in Sackville, we were in from near-by Port Elgin, getting breads and cheeses and cider for a get-together that evening. While there, I faced the eternal market breakfast dilemma: pulled pork on a bun or sausage on a bun? What would it be, which market standard would I push forwards towards domination by being the one that I buy that morning, which is better, which is more deserving, pulled pork or spicy honey garlic, how do you make up your mind in that situation and how is it that I find myself every other Saturday making this same tortured decision between sausage or pulled pork?

Basically I got the nice guy there to load down a sausage with pulled pork on top nd he only charged me for the sausage because I must have tickled his funny bone or something. Anyways that was fucking amazing. You should have more pulled pork on hotdogs, I think that'd be great.

The Roch has Zweigels. Zweigel White Hots are the best hotdogs. Period. The taste, the skin, the texture...it's all amazing.

I have never had the fancy ones like in the first post. I have always just had them with mustard and a maybe a bit of onion.

Here in Plattsburgh we have "Michigan sauce" which is a meat sauce that goes on "Michigan Dogs". They are freaking horrible. I mean the best brand of premier sausage/hotdogs I can buy in stores around here are like not even half as good as Zweigels.

Seriously you guys why do you have to remind me about really good hotdogs??? Now I am all nostalgic.

Besides the wtf-ness of some of the ingredients, a big problem I have with overflowing hot dogs is how messy they are. I am already a pretty messy eater, so an overflowing hot dog is basically impossible for me to eat without ruining everything.

Meat sauce is closer to chili than spaghetti sauce. It is not really spicy though, sort of savory with a hint of cinnamon. It is a staple here, both for hotdogs and as the primary topping on a garbage plate.

The last time I ate hot dogs was at a summer barbeque at my parents house. Said hot-dogs were just these incredibly tasty organic local sausages with like bean whey or something in them replacing some of the pig fat (I dunno) and some lightly fried red and white onions, in some baps. They were like five hundred times more appetising than anything else I have seen mentioned so far.
