If you want, Jimmy, I could point Ray to this track. (I say that like I'm all cool and know him, but it's just that we post in some of the same topics on a writer's forum, and he knows me enough from interactions that I could get his attention.)

So here is a song from the band I joined about a month ago. They've been together for a couple years before I joined and this recording isn't me on bass, but you get the jist. Playing some very old school sounding rock music, which is great fun. They've had problems before with bass players that range from sheer inability to an overabundance of showboating, so with me they've found a perfect happy medium. Anyway we're just getting really tight now set-wise and are booking loads of gigs over the summer, so I am super excited!

EDIT; Also I have no idea how to do the cool little code that allows you to link tracks straight in.

That would be...cool as hell! I mean I don't expect that he'd like it but hopefully he'd appreciate the sentiment. It's not about stuff that he wrote specifically but it's very heavily inspired by A Darkness At Sethanon, especially the fall of Armengar and Murmandamus and all that stuff. But now that I think about it, since it's basically about modern earth being overrun by demons etc... It's also heavily inspired by the rest of...everything he's written? At least the Midkemia stuff. Anyway, yeah that would be so cool, thank you!

Jimor:
OK, he listened to it. Based on what you said above, I assured him in my post that it was inspired by, not derived from, which is a very important legal distinction that allows us all to avoid an awkward situation of his publisher sending a lawyer-gram, and that's what he's referring to in the 2nd sentence.

--- Quote ---Thanks.  Ya, that kind of would be awkward.  I don't think I quite get
it.  "Doom Metal?"   "Black Metal?"  I'm not even sure what that's
supposed to mean.   Sort of a Metallica thing going there, with some
rifts that remind me of Sabbath.      Mostly, though, reminds me of
Gwarr.

Best, R.E.F.

So like you guessed, not his cuppa, but at least you can tell your mates he's heard it, and the fact that it's out there is in his mental database (and I wouldn't be surprised if he asked his kids what they think about it).
