Detachable Felix:
I'm glad that you're taking your music to those that will appreciate it more, Pat. That Troubador album was amongst my top 10 favourite albums.

You and I need to get on board with some sort of international collaboration. You know, like that band thing we were going to do  :emotrex:

In the meantime, I recently purchased a badass new acoustic. Today I finally managed to get my recording gear out.

What came out is a cover of Gareth's song Warm Suburban Autumns. Very little mixing, no effects added, done in one take for each part (staying true to the original author :P ) (click to show/hide)Oh, also I'd never learned to play the song at all before this recording - what you're hearing is me figuring the chords out  :P
Enjoy.

KingOfIreland:
Fuckit, gareth should write us some songs and we should all totally do that band thing.

I mean, if certain members are going to be so unreliable, I'm not sure I see the point anymore!

Thrillho:
Yeah if you do two takes of anything, whether it's a mistake or not, you're basically shitting on my legacy.

SO DON'T DO THAT SHIT

I haven't listened to this yet, because I was asleep and now I'm at work. Going to see if I can get a soundcloud link to play on a work computer now...

Thrillho:
So I've now listened to it and uh... I really shouldn't love a version of one of my own songs so much... but it actually brought a tear to my eye to hear Luke doing this.

I mean Luke knows I know he's covered one of my other songs before, which was 'Slip Underneath,' a pissed off song about my divorce, but that was pretty much a straight piano cover of it - not that that's a bad thing at all.

I feel like Luke's really put his own stamp on this song, and in some ways I think improved it; my version was always meant to be a love song/murder ballad where the lyrics subvert the song's tone, and Luke's version is a lot more wistful and relaxed than either of my versions. The backing vocals really add a catchy element to it.

In short, I fucking love it. Thanks Luke!

Detachable Felix:
Anytime, Gaz. It's always been my favourite song of yours and I'm glad you think I did it justice :)
