Dead Space 2: That Thing Was Pissed
Blue Kitty:
That's what confused me. I saw the commercial and finally got the game, only to have a point and click like game.
Scandanavian War Machine:
played the demo and, much like the first dead space, it felt weird and i didn't really like it right away.
luckily, the demo for 2 starts you out a little slower (1 enemy at a time for a few rooms, then it really starts) and I actually had a chance to get used to the controls, and figure out what the various weapons did. The demo for the first one turned me off so quickly that i never bothered checking it out, but the second one might actually be something i buy at some point. the zero g section was pretty dang cool and hopefully they utilize it well in the rest of the game because it could easily be my favorite part of the whole thing, if it's done right.
Blue Kitty:
Thinking about trying hardcore mode? Well, here's what you get for it, plus an extra cut scene I think
Ikrik:
The Zero-G instances are way, way better than the original. They also have a much better balance of them, coupled with the fact that this time around playing in Zero-G is fun.
I've nearly beaten the game now on hard but I watched a friend play through it on casual. Usually I don't notice too much but I think that Visceral needs to be commended for their difficulty settings. It's a completely different game. On hard you have to worry about ammo and enemy encounters are stressful. On casual you pick up 100 bullets for your weapons in no time flat and you barely take any damage. He told me he beat the game in 5 hours and died twice.
Near endgame things start to get really cool and some of the actions that Isaac takes are really awesome, and they do some stuff with Nicole that really, really helped. But then I thought to myself, "Wait, I'm in chapter 12....out of 15. Why did it take this long for character development and to show that Isaac is awesome?" I was really, really hoping that they'd do some awesome things with the fact that he's insane but they've never really taken advantage of it. They really should, psychological horror and space go really well together. Maybe in 3 they'll fix all that.
Also, I have a seething hatred for their weapons. Every single weapon from the first game is in this one. Every. Single. One. I don't care that they were improved. I don't care that you added in some new ones. I have equipped the Rifle, Plasma Cutter, the Arc thingie, and the new Detonator. I can see bringing back something like the Arc thingie because it's cool and the Plasma Cutter because it's becoming iconic....but quit it. Force us to use completely new weapons instead of allowing us to rely on the familiar.
Also, did anyone else notice the Super Meat Boy art?
Melodic:
aw shit, this is out?
there goes my sunday.
