I'll just let you all have fun thinking about what that could possibly be

Question: How sad is it that a strip full of Momo goodness, with the prospect of more in the future, has been the highlight of my week?

Yes, he's developed from an annoying running gag into weak vanilla pudding. I suppose that's evolution of a sort.

At best he's a Placeholder Significant Other, like the ones that infest Sluggy Freelance.

And here I thought the whole Angus and Marigold arc (both the dancing stuff and the subsequent Drunk Marigold scenes) were pretty good character development.

--- Quote from: Tetrinity on 01 Feb 2011, 05:44 ---Mostly because she IS interested in Angus, and has explicitly stated that she really likes him (in the recentish underpants arc). She was interested in dating in general much earlier than this, telling Doctor Corrine that she wanted to be able to kiss boys but didn't feel ready to do so. She began to overcome those boundaries with Sven (perhaps not quite as she had intended, but she did it nonetheless) and is continuing to do so now with Angus. I can't say for sure how the relationship will end up, but Faye is genuinely interested, as is Angus with her. I'm looking forward to seeing how Jeph progresses their story.

Well... have you ever read a bad fanfic? The kind that pairs up the characters as the fan in question sees fit? The progression of the relationship just doesn't seem to ring true, you know? That's how I feel about the development of Faye having a relationship with anyone at all. It just can't ring true for me. It isn't really an Angus thing, even though he's a dull and uninteresting character. It would be just as bizarre if she started dating Marten. Her reaction seems like it should always be either the one she had for him, or the one she had for Sven.

Character development is good, but I just can't buy her getting over it. A real person would, but she's a character and her neuroses are the central point upon which her character was built. I don't think it's valid to change a character that much.
