I have several tattoos myself and I have worked as a tattoo artist. Body art means a lot to me. So for me the deal breaker aspect rest solely on the BAD tattoos. I take art in general seriously and body art in particular. If someone has a ton of really shitty meaningless tattoos, i tend to find it a turn-off.
I only have one, it symbolizes my dad, it means the world to me. The tattoo artist however, didn't understand, and now I have a golf ball in snow instead of a moon with clouds slightly covering it. I've gone to see about having another artist fix it, to make it look more like a damn moon. At the time I didn't have the money, and he was wanting to charge me about $200 for it to be slightly altered (basically to add more shading to it).
My mistake was I was 18, I didn't shop around for an artist, I went to my best-friends...boyfriends...best-friend (yeah one of those things) who owned his own shop. The whole time he was trying to convince me to get a crescent moon, and I told him a full moon nothing else. Thing is, he does awesome work, mine however, he just didn't give a shit because it wasn't what he wanted to do. However, I was so proud when I got it and had to rush home to show my dad. I had said I was going to get that tattoo ever since I was 14, and as soon as I could, I went and got it. It's on my right shoulder. To me, a decent spot. =] I really do want to get it fixed though.
