i just got one that i'm going to be using in earnest today, it is here. post your tumblr blogs i know you have them and use them.

my i guess general goal with the tumblr is to post a couple of things a day that are relatively inconsequential but post once every two days with some actual like paragraphs and thoughts of my own on it. i am looking to kind of stretch several muscles writing-wise with it. please consider to join me on this adventure where we make dorky posts about things on the internet & eventually degenerate into youtube meme shouting matches

I started a tumblr, and the next day was when they started going down every other day, so I deleted it

Have they gotten better about keeping their servers up and running? I started a Wordpress account instead but don't know many people who use WP.

I prefer using a standard blog for standard blogging. The link is in my signature but I haven't blogged for like, a month, because I have been busy/dead from heat.
Why is 'blog' and its variants not a word in the Chrome spell checker? Eesh.

It's definitely user-friendly, which is exciting at first, but over time it becomes apparent that Tumblr essentially exists as a meme farm more than anything. I meant to perform actual feats of writing on my tumblr and it's just no use. Images of all sorts and short quotes are its bread and butter. It's essentially a more expansive version of Twitter.

My personal blog is here. I haven't posted on it in a while, but when I do, it's half split between reblogging stuff I like and traditional blogging.

I also started a really stupid tumblr called Look At This Fucking Cow, which combines the bovine power of pictures of cows and not-even-witty captions that accompany them. Let me know if you'd like to contribute?

I haven't updated my tumblr thing for about three months, but I may do so again in the future when I have times. I am not sure I 'get' tumblr; I thought it was for high-concept blogging. My high-concept blog is Descriptions of Heavy Metal Videos, 'Textual descriptions of the events which occur during various heavy metal music videos.'.

I should definitely get some more done some time.

Hey guys!

I really like tumblr.

I use mine for all original photo work, and occasionally a personal life post or something that I've been a part of. It's more or less the only way I publicly share my work with the exception of a few things on facebook, but honestly I promise I post nice things most of the time.

So basically you should follow it because photos are nice especially since they're original content. plug plug etc

Yeah it seems to me that like everything else, Tumblr is just a cipher and it can be used for good and evil. I feel like Andy and thepopstalinist is doing Tumblr right. It's just another way of blogging, that tends to make cross-media stuff easier than previous blogging platforms like Livejournal. And just like there are brilliant LJ blogs, there are fantastic Tumblrs. There's nothing intrinsic to the site itself, it's just a tool.

Maybe I am just dumb and cant work out how to do it, but I wish there was an easier way to just browse through various posts of different tumblrs. I know if I go to the directory i can see a heap that some people have said are great, but why can't I just see a heap of posts and go to their tumblrs if I like it? That is one of the very few things about deviantart that I like, I go and look at pages and pages of art, and something jumps out at me and I go from there and follow them to see more of their stuff. I don't really know how to find new people to follow on tumblr easily other than people I already know or webcomic artists.

mine's here by the way. I don't update it very often; i should get back onto that.

Han I follow a tumblr called ArtLove, which posts different things from a bunch of artists. I don't think there is a way to do what you're saying other than to find tumblrs like that.

sorry yeah that's me.

I never really post anything of value, just reblog a lot of stuff. i mostly use my tumblr just for the dashboard so i can read a lot of articles about trans and gay people and look at pictures of suicide girls and lady gaga.
