Yay memes! Also I've been noticing a major difference in how people say route. And it's not a country thing, either, it's mostly different among americans.

I remember these! This was/is my favorite.
jhocking:
I actually pronounce "route" multiple ways in different contexts. I'm not sure what those contexts are* but I know that I say both "root" and "rout" at times. I think I tend to say the latter more often, but I'm not sure.
*I definitely pronounce it "root" when saying road names, as in Route 66, but I don't know what other contexts. I tend to say "rout" more by itself, as in "Don't go that route."
Papersatan:
same here actually. "which rout will you take?" " 'Root' 5"
Lines:
I think I always say it "root". Not sure if I've ever said it the other way.
But I like the meme thing. The words seemed like odd choices at first, but you can hear the differences. Like some people will say some words almost the same (data) and then in other words (pecan and New Orleans) it really shows. Weird!
