Battlefield 3: DICE does good things
SirJuggles:
Holy shit guys. Teaser for Battlefield 3 got released. Watch it here (or any number of other places on the internet).
I'll admit I've been out of the gaming loop for a bit since my current laptop has not aged well. But that 12-minute teaser brought a tear to my eye. Battlefield 2 was probably the first shooter I got really in to, and this just looks like a whole leap forward for me. Can't wait to get a chance to play it.
I feel silly but part of me is bothered that they're jumping on the "take hits/duck behind cover to heal" approach. I will forever remember scrambling to find a medic in bf2 so he could drop healthpacks for me. I know this seems to be the industry default these days, but I am a stubborn one.

Battlefield 3 looks fucking magical, visually. Looks great and will probably shoot great, etc. Probably won't get it until one or two price drops where I'm at.
As a side note, regenerating health systems in shooter games really need to stop.
Torlek:
I had given up on Battlefield after 2 because CoD had actual story and was just as fun to play. Now the tables have turned and CoD has devolved into an MP hackfest with a vestigial SP mode tacked on. Now here comes Battlefield with what looks to be a possibly compelling SP mode. Then there's the fact it's like an orgasm for my eyes.
look out! Ninjas!:
regenerating health systems always lead to a much faster paced match than the old HP model, and I always preferred the slower pace because I just don't enjoy dying a lot even if I'm taking lots with me.
satsugaikaze:
I really only appreciated the CoD games up to Modern Warfare (the first one), because the moment I saw Russians being parachuted into American suburbia I knew that the shit had jumped the shark for good and suspension of disbelief was no longer necessary in the series.
