Sir George Martin DMus

I note from this month's Oxford University Gazette that on the 29th June 2011 the University of Oxford will confer on Sir George Martin the honorary degree of Doctor of Music.

They like to take their time thinking about things like this, to ensure that the recipients are worthy, you understand.  The DMus is one of the old degrees that is in any case conferred on the basis of contribution to the field, rather than the Johnny-come-lately approach of examination that the PhD (DPhil at Oxford) lot go through.

I'm kind of relieved and yet also a little disappointed to discover upon opening this thread that DMus is not, in fact, Sir George Martin's DJ name.
