themacnut:
I suspect both are; looks like Marten's night out ends with a trip to the ER with Faye. Well done Padma.
Drunk people make lousy sparring partners.
Dust:
Hmm... :-o yep, things will only go downhill from here
VonKleist:
all I have to say is
I was kind of anticipating a Dune reference in the near future, and
there it is.
Which means I must be psychic :-)
pendrake:
For comic #2043...
1. Aw, guess Elliot was not there to meet up for dancing :-( .
2. Is that supposed to be our yet unnamed "neck-scar dude" from The Secret Bakery next to Padma in panel #2?
3. Padma in panel #3 looks great art-wise. And Padma also looks good with her longer hair-down. Though I still favor the hair-up look.
4. @pwhodges... I am pretty sure Faye's glasses are broken, looking at how the glasses' halves are angling outward like that upon impact. Poor Faye, looks like she needs a new pair of glasses now. Also traded in her drunk bubbles for dazed stars. The look on her punched face made me laugh, though.
5. Perhaps I am overthinking (or more likely brain-numb thinking) this, but I think it is a pretty clever way to induce a change in Faye's look too, since we have been seeing lots of character looks' changes in recent. Perhaps Faye will get a non-square glasses this time around...?
6. Hanners at the ready with pepper-spray also made me laugh. And apparrently Jeph's favorite panel draw too.
7. I will never tire of Dune references in this web-comic. Long live the Fighters!
8. Funny sign in the background.
NO
- Loitering
- Skateboarding
- Puking
- Peeing
- Fucking <= (aw, no "fun" in a public alley after dancing? disappointing)
- thanks!
9. @TheoGB... The Faye & Padma fight-gag started back at Number 1857: An Auspicious Meeting, continued in Number 1928: Is that Krav Maga?, and now here in #2043. The fight-gag between them is to show Faye & Padma's friendly rivalry (with leanings more towards the "friend" part) with each other, giving our southern punching belle someone to relate to easily by nature.
Archive Jockey, away! *flies off leaving a rainbow flight exhaust trail*
Soulsynger:
--- Quote from: DSL on 25 Oct 2011, 15:19 ---I have only one criticism of Comic 2042 and I offer it somewhat hesitantly, because of Jeph's accounting of how it came to be, but here goes. A character secondary to that installment's events will pop on for one panel and vanish thereafter. Most of the time it's one of the AnPCs, who will deliver a line and vanish, even though the scene never shifts. This time it's Hanners. Her reax, even wordless, to whatever Faye's trying to do to Elliott would have added to this episode. Instead, it looks like she ran off; there are "camera" angles in 2042 which could have included her at least incidentally. As I said, I offer this criticism hesitantly because of Jeph's mentions on Twitter and Tumblr as to how 2042 almost didn't happen. I should also mention in fairness that I think Faye's antics in 2041, immediately preceding, are a good example of how to do what I'm talking about ... And Jeph handled it particularly well in one strip, post-"Dorapocalypse," in which the gang plus Veronica are walking along and encounter Sven. Hanners' background reax (and Tai's), though only incidental to the action, help make that strip.
EDIT: Then again, maybe we'll find out in 2043 that Hanners DID run off, still thinking Elliott is a knife killer or something. Or not. :?

I guess today's last panel has healed your soul. :)
Hm... first episode of Rorouni Kenshin comes to mind. With Kaoru pulling something very similar.
My thoughts:
Judging by the angle of the individual glasses in panel 4, those spectacles are definitely unusable for the remainder of the evening.
Padma is not only rude for punching Faye, she's also rude for not even saying hello before doing it. (I mean, come on!)
Hanner's expression in the last panel made my day. Immensely well done.
Padma = Elisa Maza?
Starting an evening on such an embarassing note doesn't necessarily ruin it. We might still get to see some dancing. Don't give up hope!
@VonKleist:
What Dune reference? I usually get most of them by myself, but this one I can't seem to find. oO
@pendrake:
Damn you. Damn you and your fast typing. :-D
